A great soap to shave with after breaking in a new lawn mower. Though there's nothing particularly green in Spitfire to remind you of cut grass, it is full of leathery woody notes that smell just like my gloves at the end of day in the yard. The lingering smell of ammonia that tainted these early batches of P&B soaps reminds me of the oil and gas I spilled on my boots. Both the shave and the finish are fine, though not nearly as smooth and plump as a top tier soap.

The scent on this one reminds me of my grandpa's garage. Lots of oil/gas but combined with an old lawnmower.

Fine Lavender Pour Homme

I was looking for a lavender, and after some consultation, I was going to pick up some DR Harris lavender (thanks Bouki and Lipripper660). However, I just happened upon a great deal on a puck of Fine Lavender Pour Homme. At 11$ I had to give it a shot.

Honestly, not much lavender to this soap. Probably good, as I was hunting for a light lavender scent in the same vein as Yardley's hand soap.

This soap is light in general. While it carries a cologne type scent, it seems to wash mostly clean on rinse. The scent, to my unrefined nose, is a cologne-esque black licorice. Not even certain how I get that, when it has no licorice or anise at all. Nonetheless, it's a good scent. I just wish it hung around post shave, like everything Stirling seems to make.

The shave was good. The soap lathered quite easily with a new Omega synthetic boar brush. It provided slickness and cushion, albeit maybe not as great as the top tier soaps. In the end it left my face feeling good and refreshed, not dry like others have in the past.

For the price of admission, it definitely is a great soap.
