I've got four Haslinger soaps. Today was coconut. This is the old formulation with tallow. Lather is pretty quick and has pretty decent glide. The scent however marks this one down. I really like coconut but the scent on this smells more like a chem lab creation and not a very good one at that. It hints toward coconut but misses the mark by a good distance. Certainly not as pleasant a coconut as say Trumpers Coconut Oil Cream. There are lots of folks that love Haslinger and I tried to dig them but the scent on both coconut and sage leave me wanting. Honig (honey) is better but still smells artificial. Schafmilch is pretty good to my nose. Post shave on all leave my skin tight. They protect ok. They lather decent. But there are so many more ( excepting sheeps milk) that perform better I see very little reason for me to wish to try the new veg formulation. Hey, if Haslingers works for you I am happy.

Lippripper, funny how people have different noses. Haslinger for me is one of my favorite soaps. And I like their scents. I must have smoked to many cigars - perhaps they have burned my nostrils permanently . Agree that they are a bit drying, but i make up for it with ASB. Just another reason to horde more shave stuff. Lol.

Clay Face
Honolulu, Hawaii
Spitfire t. (Phoenix & Beau) ★★★☆☆ leather, juniper, tobacco, ammonia

A great soap to shave with after breaking in a new lawn mower. Though there's nothing particularly green in Spitfire to remind you of cut grass, it is full of leathery woody notes that smell just like my gloves at the end of day in the yard. The lingering smell of ammonia that tainted these early batches of P&B soaps reminds me of the oil and gas I spilled on my boots. Both the shave and the finish are fine, though not nearly as smooth and plump as a top tier soap.
