What soap/cream did you use today?

Sometimes you gotta be a cowboy. Today I reached for Stirlings Texas on Fire. When I first got this soap it was unbelievably stout in a fairly uninhibited fashion. It smelled like a fire caught fire. I liked it but reserved it for weekends only. Over a very short time though the scent mellowed and although it is still about 9/10 the sharp edges rounded out and now it truly smells like a campfire. Not an Idaho campfire with fir and pine but a campfire with brush that reminds me of smallish fires we would stoke to brand calves that had missed branding earlier. It is awesomeness in a green tub. The lather is quick, slick, and cushy.

Lavender & Cedar t. (Crowne & Crane) ★★★★☆ 90% lavender, 10% cedar

This is a floral lavender, smooth and velvety without any sharp bits to poke you in the nose. The cedar is there only to iron out any rough spots in the herby parts. You'll hardly notice it. The lather is fairly standard. It mixes up quick and easy, and I got a good shave without any surprises. There seems to be a good slug of Shea butter in the soap. Right now my face feels great, a little waxy, but smooth and completely without irritation.

So, the soap works fine and smells good. It could be a weekday workhorse if you're looking for something that delivers a solid shave without any hassle and that smells clean but not boring.
