A WR2 1.15 is not near enough to a P076. You need at least 1.35-1.55

Can someone else also attest to this, because that sounds amazing

If a .61 works that well for you I'd say you've chosen the 'right' gaps be it WR1, or WR2. OTOH, What rawfox1 posted has merit. The WR2 is such a smooth razor that a 1.35, or 1.55 is a smooth and super efficient shave. That said, with a WR1 my minimum gap is .74. I had a .61 in both SB and OC and sold both once I scored a .74 and a .86.

In WR2 I've got 1.15, 1.25 and 1.55. The 1.55 is my favorite of the bunch. Other razors I like a lot are the Charcoal Goods Lvl 2 and to a lesser extent the Lvl 3. I love the Blackbird probably more than all of the above oddly enough. I didn't start out that way, but that's where I am now. Subject to change.  Rolleyes

Shavemd I only recently picked up a Ti Blackbird second hand and I've been shaving with it daily since I got it a couple of weeks ago. I wouldn't say the Ti BB feels like a 1.45 (i don't have one) but I could say the final result is as good as a 1.55, which I do have. OTOH, I could say that about most all of my favorite razors (noted above) with the right blade. Just IMHO.

Personally, I like the WR1 more than the WR2 especially in the OC. It depends on how much of a bump in efficiency you are looking for? If the standard gap is giving you perfect shaves, maybe try the .74 OC for a touch more efficiency? I like the standard OC for daily but do have the .80 OC but don't use it for daily shaving. It is almost too smooth for the blade exposure on offer. If I wanted to get another it would be the .74 OC.

JimmyH I agree that the blade razor combo can make a difference. In addition for me I have always preferred the WR1 shave vs the WR2. For me the WR2 Ti 1.45 was the best WR2 but I do better with smaller gaps in many of the razors I use. For some reason the Ti BB just hit the sweet spot.

I think Blackland specializes in
Blade Exposure more so than gap
And the WR1 probably also does
And I say that based on my experience
With the DART which has a small gap
Compared to my WR2 1.15 DC
The DART used at it's most shallow
Effective angle had a ton of blade feel & is
Super efficient, so my next Wolfman will
Be a WR2 1.35 and that should come close to
The DART efficiency minus the extreme
Blade feel

Just throwing in my 2 cents here. I agree with Rawfox1 about the H&S P076 comparing to a WR2 1.35 or 1.45. I go from 1.25 through 1.65 in my WR2’s and have a .86 and .94 WR1. I think the WR2 is smoother than the WR1 but I like high gap razors and the WR2 gets smoother and smoother the higher I go in my gaps. That’s just me though. Everyone is different. I also agree that the WR2 1.45 in any metal is probably the best of all worlds in a Wolfman for me. In other words, just go with your gut in what you want.

I would disagree with most of the common themes on this thread. This usually rubs a few folks the wrong way but I’ve talked to numerous people that end up buying these monster gaps and are then disappointed and have to sell them so I feel the need to speak up:

Higher wr1 gap being smoother - nope

Wr2 at 1.35 - 1.55 being good for someone who likes a .61 - big nope.

I share your appreciation for the .61. I owned .54-.74 and 61 and 67 were the highest I enjoyed. I tried .80 and .86 and laughed out loud. Literally lol...no thanks. Not for me.

I’ve owned .95-1.15 wr2 and used 1.25 and here’s where I stand on this.

1.25 was too aggressive for me. I didn’t enjoy it at all. The 1.15 was probably my fave but I cannot use this as a daily shaver. For me, the 1.05 is the ideal razor if you’re going to shave every day and 1.15 if you’re going to skip days. Even skipping days - the 1.05 has enough gap imo

I shave every day with a straight for the last about 18 months - 2 years for reference.
