Wolfman WR2 Head Discussion

For me my Ti BB is as efficient as a WR2 1.55 but feels more like a 1.45

Can someone else also attest to this, because that sounds amazing

This has got me curious so I’m going to start a side by side comparison using my WR2 Ti 1.35, 1.45 and if the Blackbird Ti matches the 1.45 then I’ll go to the 1.55. It’s been quite a while since I used any of my Wolfe’s but the last time I used the BB Ti I got a memorably close shave that actually surprised me and enjoyed it so much I’m just waiting on the polished version. One of the few razors I’m interested in adding to my den at this point.

I received my latest WR2 today - it’s a 135/155 SB dual comb.  Just beautiful!

Fortunately, I was carrying a 3 day growth.  I did my usual 2 1/2 passes with the 135 side for delicate/challenging parts and the 155 for the bulk of my face - the same process I use with my 1.15/1.25 and .86/.94.  Yes, it has significant blade feel, which made me a bit cautious today.  But there was little to fear.

The handle is a hollow 90mm WRH7.  It feels great and is beautiful.  I found the balance a little off and naturally held the razor below the knurling.  I was warned in advanced about this.  However, it might be perfect for my WR1.

The shave was very close.  I may have reached my goal of a smoother, Muhle R41 level razor.  I’ll be able to judge it better in a few hours.

Here it is.  The purple sharpie mark indicates the higher gap, for quick visual reference.

Sorry if this is an obvious answer, but how are you able to differentiate the different gaps with the dual comb Sb heads.

Looking at the bottom of the base plate, when the writing is the right way up, the higher gap is on top

I've had a few shaves with a machined SS BB...I think the 1.55 (Ti) and 1.45 both top it in terms of face results.

Bladefeel-wise too....both the wolfmen have more...I realised the unease I used to feel from the BB came from the
sharp edges of the bar traversing my face at all times.

I think BB comes close to a 1.35, altho it does not exactly replicate the experience....BB might be just a tad more efficient (for me)

Sorry if this is an obvious answer, but how are you able to differentiate the different gaps with the dual comb  Sb heads.

As ALI stated to determine which is which.  However, that is awkward during a shave as I use both sides.  So, I mark the edge of the high side with a sharpie for quick reference.

Just floated to the top of the list and heard from Tara.  So I can get another Wolfman in addition to my WR1 .61 SB.  That razor I consider my "moderately" efficient and I get great and easy shaves from it.  Now, I know lots of folks like the higher gaped WR1s a lot and talk about how, paradoxically, they are so smooth.  And then there is other obvious option of a WR2. My goal would be to keep some of the ease of the WR1 .61, and perhaps even the feel, but gain a touch more efficiency.  Something closer to, but not as efficient, as my H&S P076 which I consider my "more aggressive" razor.  I'm a daily shaver and expect to continue to shave every day.  I hope this makes sense.  I'm debating between a WR1 .80 SB and a WR2 1.15 SB.  Any thoughts appreciated (and yes I've read probably several thousands of the posts in this thread, as well as other threads, so I have a sense of where things lie but am just throwing my question).  An edited addition: why on earth I really might want another Wolfman isn't clear to me, to be honest; I just shaved with the WR1 .61 and I got a shave that I can pretty describe as perfect; it was as close as I would really ever want, it's glassy smooth, not even a pinprick of irritation (and certainly not a nick anywhere), and it was easy....  Maybe, folks, I should simply go with the WR2 just to try a different feel?

I have a WR1 0.67 DC, and a WR2 1.15 SB, and I am a daily shaver. You probably already read that the shaving angles for the WR1 and WR2 are quite different. Both are definitely in the mid-aggressive range. In terms of aggression / efficiency, I find the WR2 1.15 SB in the same bracket as my Paradigm 17-4 and Javelin, CG Level 2, Blackland Vector. When I want to step up the closeness of my shave, I use a Blackbird / Yates H.

I have wondered about getting a WR2 1.25 SB, but the Vector has been killing it for me lately, so I am deliberating between the Menlo Nealon or the Yates EH plate.
