WR1 0.94

Nothing basic about basic.

Man that is really nice, so is that the
Premium Mirror Polished (up charged)???
If I remember correctly you definitely
Didn't like the basic polished, but then
Again I don't remember you saying
That many nice things about the
WR1 either, but I have  to say that is
Indeed one heck of a fine looking razor.

That is the basic brushed finish.

You're right I don't like the basic polished (spoiled after experiencing mirror)
This didn't happen to me after I stepped down from satin to brushed basic.
The only basic polish piece I have now is a WRH7 XL Hollow and that is on the block
as we speak.

I did buy and sell a WR1 DC (86 SB/ 80 OC) some time ago...I suspect it was because I didn't
quite relate to the efficiency it provided. After a couple years of experimenting, my baseline gap
seems to be the 1.35 WR2 and this 0.94 WR1 is in that ballpark I am told.

I have high hopes from this one...let us see.

So many other options these days.

My goal would be to keep some of the ease of the WR1 .61, and perhaps even the feel, but gain a touch more efficiency.  Something closer to, but not as efficient, as my H&S P076 which I consider my "more aggressive" razor.  I'm a daily shaver and expect to continue to shave every day.  I hope this makes sense.  I'm debating between a WR1 .80 SB and a WR2 1.15 SB.  Any thoughts appreciated (and yes I've read probably several thousands of the posts in this thread, as well as other threads, so I have a sense of where things lie but am just throwing my question).  An edited addition: why on earth I really might want another Wolfman isn't clear to me, to be honest; I just shaved with the WR1 .61 and I got a shave that I can pretty describe as perfect; it was as close as I would really ever want, it's glassy smooth, not even a pinprick of irritation (and certainly not a nick anywhere), and it was easy....  Maybe, folks, I should simply go with the WR2 just to try a different feel?

I would disagree with most of the common themes on this thread. This usually rubs a few folks the wrong way but I’ve talked to numerous people that end up buying these monster gaps and are then disappointed and have to sell them so I feel the need to speak up:

Higher wr1 gap being smoother - nope

Wr2 at 1.35 - 1.55 being good for someone who likes a .61 - big nope.

I share your appreciation for the .61. I owned .54-.74 and 61 and 67 were the highest I enjoyed. I tried .80 and .86 and laughed out loud. Literally lol...no thanks. Not for me.

I’ve owned .95-1.15 wr2 and used 1.25 and here’s where I stand on this.

1.25 was too aggressive for me. I didn’t enjoy it at all. The 1.15 was probably my fave but I cannot use this as a daily shaver. For me, the 1.05 is the ideal razor if you’re going to shave every day and 1.15 if you’re going to skip days. Even skipping days - the 1.05 has enough gap imo

I shave every day with a straight for the last about 18 months - 2 years for reference.

Kehole , I agree with you. For anyone old enough to remember the old Camel Filter (cigarette) commercials, "They're not for everybody."

As I mentioned in previous posts, a .61 was not for me, a Timeless .86, and especially the Feather ASD-2 and the Pils. Sold all of them. Lemonade.

I have a BBS-1 which is essentially a WR2 @ 1.00. Just barely suits me in terms of efficiency.

I shaved every day for a week with a WR2 1.55 after I got it.

1.25 OC or SB is fine for me. Different strokes for different folks.

The great thing for those who want to 'take a walk on the wild side' and try the higher gaps is reselling if they don't suit you is not at all difficult.

1.45. I got it from Mark. I think he likes WR1 Ti or BB Ti more.
For me, it is the best razor. Thanks a lot to Shavemd
1.55 and 1.45 efficiency are same for me. Over a week growth I had, it took only 2 pass to get perfect BBS.
I like these razor, they are super efficient, super fast and still very comfortable.

My first shave with the SS 0.94 SB on a Darwin Handle, and I am blown away!
How's it possible that I did not care for the 0.86SB but love this? Some questions,
like love, should not be probed so deeply, or they lose their allure.

I'm a strictly two-pass guy...and I usually follow up with an exclusive neck-only pass
(east-west)

The 0.94 is one of those razors that creates this vacuum suction kind of effect
on the cheeks....the only other razor that did this for me is the Blackbird SS.
The weight of this combo was exactly 85 grams and I used a very light touch,
with zero pressure, where the razor literally glides over the skin.

End result was fantastic...no nicks of any sort....very comfortable, no irritation.
The razor that comes closest to this one is the Blackbird, but I feel the 0.94 surpassed
the former by quite a bit, especially in the face feel department. And it is more efficient.

Blade feel: in no way did this razor feel intimidating, despite its caption of being the
most aggressive WR1 gap. My 1.35 and 1.55 exhibit more blade feel. I actually think the
0.94 might be as smooth as 1.35...but it's a different kind of face feel and smoothness.

This razor also extinguishes my desire to look at other new razors in the market that adopt
the sleek low profile head aesthetic...we know who they are , no need to stir up controversy.

I tried a once-used wizamet super iridium in this razor and both paired well. I was expecting this
razor to be in the WR2 1.35 ballpark and it did not disappoint. Loot said that both 1.35 and 0.94
get you to the same destination, but via a different route.

I can say, with utmost confidence, that with the 0.94, I really enjoyed the journey.

Tester28 Happy to hear of your reaction to the .94. I did not have the same 'love at first shave' reaction to mine. I had to shave with it again and again to finally decide that I liked it. Looking back I think that was because I ordered it with a 100mm solid WRH1 weighing in at 107gms.

Oddly enough it was something you pointed out in a thread awhile back that helped me solve my problem with the .94. I tend to like to use razors with which ever handle they came with. So I continued to use the weighty WRH1. In some post you pointed out that the WR1 head is lighter than the WR2.

So I paired the .94 DC with my Darwin and it was great. Since then, having scored a WRH1 90mm hollow, @ 64gms my Darwin has returned to my WR1 .74 DC, and the hollow WRH1 is a mate for the .94. As I told you after you sent it, 'a marriage made in heaven.   Smile

Excellent assessment of the .94. It’s a great gap/razor! I use a hollow WRH7 XL or titanium secondary handle on mine with exceptional results. I am so glad the hollow option was made available a while ago because I feel like both SS WR1 & WR2 heads in high gaps benefit from a lighter handle. Just my opinion though!
