I’ve never put a non Wolfman handle on any of my WR1’s or WR2’s but have come to appreciate that the different weight solid options I have can influence the shave in a decent amount. I’ve come to prefer my solid H1 and H2 handles with the 1.05 and 1.15. The 1.25 seems to give the best results with the 3/7 hybrid handle I have which is a little longer and lighter. With my recent order that should be here soon I went with the solid H7 for the sole purpose of having a variety of weights and lengths in solid. At some point I plan to revisit the WR1 heads with the same approach to see if the lighter heads and different balance points maybe benefit from different handle choices. When I was using the WR1s exclusively I tended to put any of the on a 90mm solid but maybe some lighter choices will bring out some nuances I wasn’t able to detect before.

For anyone that has tried both solid and hollow handles, is the balance point for the handles themselves the same? I have been curious about that. See I have a variety of handles of different sizes( of course solid) and I have been trying them all on my Wolfman WR2. Trying to get an idea of what to order in the future, since I only get one shot.

Mini review.
I just tried the WR2 .125 Sb with a Weber bulldog handle and the shave was perfect. I used a Personna Med Prep and had the best shave ever period with this razor. Super close shave, no blood or irritation at all. Face feels great. I used the A&E Forbidden Fruit soap and between the razor and the soap I didn’t even use aftershave and my face feels great. I’m really enjoying how I can pretty much control the efficiency with different blades. A Gillette Rubie works wonders for me but I have to pay attention, but the BBS and no irritation is so worth it. Amazing, this is after trying other razors to make sure it was not me just believing the hype and loving it. This really is a damn fine razor. Glad I bought one.

One thing I’m not enjoying is the weight of the WRH1 90mm solid I ordered with it. The weight is just too much. ATG my hand cramps so bad sometimes, the pain is unbearable. I will probably get a 80mm or 90mm WRH1 hollowed next time.

Living on the edge
The WRH7 XL handle in hollow is about 56 gm...I find it goes just perfect with the WR2 head
in terms of balance.

The WRH7XL solid in Ti at 50gm is even better with the 15gm Ti head.

I also can't bring myself to use a non Wolfman handle on my WRs. I have the WRH7 long hollow and it is great. OTOH, I have long WRH-1, and 3 solid, and they also work just fine for me. Hard to say how a handle, or a gap, will work for another individual.

I'm receiving a 1.55 SB tomorrow and couldn't be more excited. I actually received it from another forum, I got on the list late after giving up on the website for awhile and not looking, so I probably won't be able to place my own order for a few months. It'll be interesting to start at the very top end of gaps!

I can't bring myself to forgo something that works better for my shave, regardless of who made it or how much it cost.

I was thinking of getting the WRH2, 80mm, 55g. So that would be 28 (WR1) + 55 = 83g. Solid would bring it up to 110g.

For what its worth, I also like lighter razors and shorter handles.  I bought the hollow WRH2 in 90 mm and it works and balances very well.  Your 28 + 64 = 92 is still close to your range.

Tastes great! .... Less filling!

I like the differences in materials, finishes, makers, etc....in other people's SOTD photos. I just can't do it myself. All of my stuff is OEM. At one time, I bought a couple Hemple and UFO handles to play with. I used a couple of them, some just got looked at. All were beautiful but I just couldn't...it threw off the force I guess. Weird, I know.

If a new razor or handle encroaches on my space by being a copy of or heavily borrowing from one of my favorite razors/artisans, I'll swear them off with absolutely no use for them.

Knowing all of that is kinda silly, I once bought a Ti Russian handle that heavily borrows from a DuFour design. I talked myself into it because it was specifically made for a Blackbird. I got it in, mounted it on the BB head, looked at it for about 15 seconds, took it off and never used it. It stayed on a shelf until I tried to PIF it to a friend. I was glad to see it go.

I also enjoy reading about those of you that are so dialed in that you tinker around with parts to find a Goldilocks. I can admire the attention to detail. I generally just pick a razor up and go to work. Light, heavy, handle heavy, head heavy...as long as I can feel the blade, I seem to make it work somehow.
