Just received shipping notice. WR2 1.25 sb is expected to join the den on 12/9. Maiden voyage will be the following morning. Report to follow.
Thinking that scratching a big X in the wall for each passing day would be a bit too dramatic....

Starman,

I agree - I think it is the shock factor of receiving the highly coveted proceed to order email (11/24). After trying to secure one for over a year, the perception of WM's time - space continuum changes - from watching grass grow in total silence to being pulled into a black hole beyond the speed of light (final specs placed and paid for on 11/25 and shipping notice on 11/29). What is truly disturbing is James just had to mention he will be creating a similar ordering process next year for the Ti's. I am coveting one and haven't even received the SS yet. The lesson from this pursuit- I will need a bigger wall.

Haha! Yea bigger wall or smaller x's.
I got the similar message re: a Ti order list.
I'm considering  giving a  Wr2 Ti some room in the den combined with a small gap.
I always preferred the weight of SS heads but the comparison would be interesting.

Could trade my Wr2 1.45 Dc for Ti 0.95, Idea now there's an unusual swap!

The only comparison I have is between my SS and TI Timeless in both 68 and 95 gaps. There is much to love about the SS. Let the weight do the work, easy to maintain etc. But once I started with the Ti I became very fond of the lighter weight. I do feel the that is a bit of efficiency loss compared to the same configuration in SS but then it could be my technique needs to be refined. I believe in having different gaps available as there have been a few days where the lower gap was greatly appreciated. There is one thing I have learned since I picked up my first DE - it's not about finding the highest gap your mug can tolerate as much as that is a worthy and often neccesary quest.

I had & sold all the Timeless inc. Ti .95,
I think you are in for a real treat when your 1.25 arrives,
Your Timeless shall be quivering ........

I know that's coming. When I introduced the Carbon into the den within days there was a west side story thing going on between the razors. The Goodwill tried the can't we all just get along thing but it was quickly escorted from the playground for its safety and protection.

Your mention of gap got me thinking of my years of dedicated straight razor shaving. Essentially all the razors had the same gap  Smile  So the next thought was it may be as much about blade exposure as it is about gap.

For instance, a Blackbird, according to what Shane said ... IIRC ... has a gap of .58. Yet it will hold its own with a Timeless @ .95 among other higher gaps.

I do agree it is good to have an assortment of DEs/SEs in the kit to suit your preference on a given day.

Congrats on the WR2 incoming. You'll probably love it.

Incidentally, in terms of SS weight vs Ti ... my WR2 1.25/1.15 DC has the WRH7 oversize drilled. The handle is nearly as light as the Darwin. So that brings it into the range of Ti.

Exactly my thinking and why I went with the hollow handle.
