Wolfman WR2 Head Discussion

I love the Darwin handle I got from a friend it is now on my .94 WR1. It is my favorite of all Wolfman handles except BBS1 which is just stunning IMHO

WE DON'T NEED NO STEENKING GAUGES !!!

So I sometimes reload ammuntion, and know enough math to get by with that I have both inch and metric micrometers and dial calipers.

Since I know what the gap is supposed to be, I was able to eyeball from the side, and ascertain that the 1.25 is indeed correct with a blade in it, and the 0.74 is as well.

I'll get gauges anyway ... can't be too careful ... 

Whoa....if you were able to “eyeball” fractions of a millimeter, then your eyeballs are much better than mine!!

Hey ,,, nobody said it was going to be easy    Actually it wasn't that bad. Kind of a 'close enough for government work' accuracy. I do intend to get a set of feeler gauges, but the caliper open beside the head with the blade in it was 'close enough.'

The trick was to open the caliper and set it to the desired gap. Not to try and manipulate it while holding the razor. Too shaky for that. But if the 1.25 is set, and you bring the opening alongside the head/blade, it is not hard to see it is 'right.'

Damn all these photos of the Darwin handle has my RAD all geared up! Does James offer it in Ti?

Also to anyone who has one how does it compare shave wise to both the HR2 and HR7? Those are the 2 WM handles I’m most familiar with.

Did you not use the one I sent? I know you left the 3 in the box but I'm thinking that Darwin was shipped to you as well. As it's not my favorite to use, too narrow at the primary grip, I sold mine to a friend. I immediately regretted it and wound up buying another one as they are quite nice in photos...and the WRA2 stand.

I did use it but it's so long ago I don't remember how if felt in hand and I think it was on a WR1 if I'm not mistaken and in SS right? Does it come in Titanium? I don't see it offered on the Site. It sure is a looker for sure.

Ime the Darwin is best paired with a wr1. The Wr2 head was a poor match from a balance standpoint for me. It’s a stunningly unique and practical handle.

So you think it's not suited to the WR2 head but better matched for the WR1. I suppose if I find a SS one I could use it on my WR1 SS.94DC Thanks for the info.

So you have it on your WR1 and it's a SS handle I assume. Have you ever tried it on your Ti head? I may be sending a call ticket to try that handle my friend and if I like it then the search begins! Just when I thought I had it beat the darn RAD seems to crawling back into my life.

An a congrats on the new Grandchild my friend! I saw him on IG and what a handsome little guy he is. You must be a very proud grandpa!

How much heavier is it than the standard HR7? based on the site I don't see it in Ti, just in SS

More than one way to accomplish any given task. Kudos to you for using the tools at hand to confirm your 125 ain't no 145!

That's kind of like good old hillbilly engineering. And for those that don't know that term lookup hillbillies in the Ozarks, and our language can be fun too!

I only have the Ti one...if Im not mistaken, it weighs exactly 50gms.
SS is 92gms.

So the WRH7 XL you have is Ti?
I only see the regular size on the site offered so James must have done a custom for you. Nice! The SS version at 92 grams sounds like a heavyweight and to much for me. I've got the regular HR7 in Ti and I also had it in SS and I enjoyed both. A larger sized HR7 in Ti would be great as I had a member send my a stork copy of the HR7 in Ti and it was bigger than my HR7 Ti but it felt really good in hand as it was a tad longer but it was a bit wider which I liked so I'm assuming your;s being bigger may be similar to the Stork. I won't buy the Stork and put one on a Wolfman razor. It's a copy and just doesn't sit right with me.
