Wolfman uses Metric but feeler gauges can have both metric & Imperial measurements stamped on the blades as seen in the pic I sent you....
Help me out Jim, I left school at 15 years old to travel the road of the sunburned thumb, as Woody Guthrie called it, and vagabonded around the country until @ 19 I joined the Ironworker's union and erected structural steel for 20 years. I learned whatever math was necessary for that trade and no more.

So what is a 1.25 gap ? Is James referring to inch or metric in that designation ?

Hi Jimmy,

I'll put it into old money for you, 1.25 is one & a quarter millimetre or 1-1/4mm if this makes sense, you wont be confused when you get some feeler gauges, it will all add up when its in front of you, no problem.....the feeler guages are just very accurate shims with numbers stamped on them, add as many shims as needed to gently fill the gap-then add all the shim numbers up, & thats it.

I think I'm needing to get some more feeler gauges also, I believe the last set I had we're taken in a home burglary. An adequate quality for spark plugs and safety razors. Although the snap-on brand caught my attention, very cool.

WE DON'T NEED NO STEENKING GAUGES !!!

So I sometimes reload ammuntion, and know enough math to get by with that I have both inch and metric micrometers and dial calipers.

Since I know what the gap is supposed to be, I was able to eyeball from the side, and ascertain that the 1.25 is indeed correct with a blade in it, and the 0.74 is as well.

I'll get gauges anyway ... can't be too careful ...  Rolleyes

Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum ! I put the plug in the jug 10 years ago this past May the 6th, but who's counting  Smile

I was looking at my excellent photo of the 2 razors beside the caliper. An interesting juxtaposition of stainless steel finishes between the two razors and the caliper.

The thing that got me, more in the photo than in person, was the similarity between the two razor finishes.

If I didn't tell you that the WR1 on the left was mirror polish, and the WR2 on the right was brushed satin ($150 upcharge @ current pricing) they appear close to identical ... to my eye.

In person there is a difference, but the brushed satin looks great too. Some might even prefer it.

Damn all these photos of the Darwin handle has my RAD all geared up! Does James offer it in Ti?

Also to anyone who has one how does it compare shave wise to both the HR2 and HR7? Those are the 2 WM handles I’m most familiar with.

Ascetically I like the 7 the best, and the HR2 the least, though the 2 is the best for shaving, with the 1 a close second. At least that is my preference.

The Darwin is very nice to shave with. It is shorter than I usually like, and so smooth it would appear to be slippery, but the flats give good gripping points and slipping is not an issue for me. I like it very much. Needless to say, though I'll say it anyway, the Darwin is beautiful thanks to James workmanship.

Did you not use the one I sent? I know you left the 3 in the box but I'm thinking that Darwin was shipped to you as well. As it's not my favorite to use, too narrow at the primary grip, I sold mine to a friend. I immediately regretted it and wound up buying another one as they are quite nice in photos...and the WRA2 stand.

Ime the Darwin is best paired with a wr1. The Wr2 head was a poor match from a balance standpoint for me. It’s a stunningly unique and practical handle.
