I like, and use, the Blackbird, CG Level 2, Timeless SB 0.68, Timeless Bronze SB, and  the Paradigm 17-4.

I want mild...but efficient, and a bit of blade feel is ok with me.

I don’t want to screw up a long-awaited opportunity, and I doubt I’ll own a stable of Wolfmans...so, dis be it.

Recommendations?

IMO, it's possible to equate the shave results of a wolfman wr2 with other razors, but not the actual shave itself.
It's quite a different beast that delivers very high level of smoothness even in the highest gaps.

The 1.15 SB will deliver results similar to CG L2 and Blackbird...but will be smoother. You could also kick it up to 1.25
and you won't be disappointed. I would hesitate to recommend anything higher based on what you've shared.

Maybe you can explore a dual gap solid bar...1.15 and 1.25 in one head. I don't know if OC confers any special benefits
unless you like the feel of it.  It's becoming a  trend to do dual gaps since no one really knows how long the wait is to
get another order accepted.

Please be sure to let the buyer know that you bought it as a 1.25DC and the additional
0.2mm bump is the output from your personal measurements.

Both performed equally well, to my surprise, and I learned something. I like blade feel. I sold my .68 Timeless, a Feather AS-D2, among others for that reason. I'm even going to sell my Timeless .95 SB & OC as well. Not enough blade feel for me.

So in this YMMV sport, one man's meat is another man's poison.

When you say equally well, efficiency wise? If so, that's the big take away, right? This isnt the first time you ran them side by side is it?

Ima blade feel guy too as it seems. The CG blade feel from SB to OC pronounced?

I know... lotsa questions.

Yes, end result wise. My first CGs were an OC Lv 3 from a guy on another forum. Loved it. Picked up a Lv 2 direct from CG sometime later. I didn't care for it. It was very like the Timeless .68 to me. Shaved me well enough, but not like the Lv 3. Then I got a Lv 3 SB base plate from our own Tester, and it too shaved great.

I then scored a Lv 2 OC, not that long ago, and found it way better than the Lv 2 SB, but never ran them side by side the way I did today with the Lv 2 DC.

Coming to DFS, getting these DC WR2s has stimulated me to do comparison shaves in a way I never did in the past. I mean, shaving half my face with one, then half with the other ... I never would have tried that stuff in the past.

Now it is interesting and fun.
I have the CG L2 SB and OC and I find the OC to be more efficient and have more blade feel.  I think the OC is more efficient because it requires less touch up and I look more clean shaven at the end of the day.  I only do 2 WTG passes though.  I think if I did a 3 common 3 pass shave, I would probably find the efficiency very similar.  I prefer the OC because I like the little bit of extra blade feel, but I like the SB for times when my skin is more sensitive.

I'd be mighty surprised if James made a mistake like that. Maybe measuring with feeler gauges isn't an exact science ?

For clarification, again,...

The previous owner made an error, could even have been a typo on his part,
He sold it as it was too aggressive for him compared to his .95 daily driver.

feeler guages are an exact way of taking such a measurement-1.45 guages will not fit into a 1.25 gap, a simple engineering fact, not a science.
At no time has it been suggested by me that James may have made a mistake as I did not buy from James?
Thank you for your concerns on this....Lol.... Smile

Hey Henery!

I am settling on 1.15/145 Dual SB,

You don't often see someone who purchases a second hand WR2 1.25 DC and re-christens it
as a1.45 DC of their own accord...then go ahead and order the very same gap (1.45) again.
But now we do, I guess.

To put the matter to rest, you should ask the person who sold you the 1.25DC to provide you with James'
original invoice with 1.45 clearly stated on it. That's the only way to confirm.

The ONLY way to confirm a blade gap is to measure it, FACT.
A piece of paper does not prove a blade gap, Engineers feeler gauges do.

But, if it makes you happy Tester I shall do that, it clearly bothers you.

Perhaps you can ask the same of every person that bought a used Wolfman so as
to be fair and balanced with YOUR opinion....
should I have my engineering skills confirmed for you also.
You think replacing a 1.45 DC with a 1.15/1.45 DC is getting the same razor again?? Speaks for itself.....

Must be have a dig at Starman day.......

Have you measured the blade gaps of other razors, too?
Will be nice if you have Timeless .95 or GameChanger .84 etc.

Hi CK89,

Yes I have measured the gaps and full geometry of most of my razors over several years.
I sold my Timeless & GC 84-p razors, along with countless others.

The information & data I have Is intended to go to a new thread based on razor geometry & design.

A little more on blade gaps,

For those who are interested here is a comparison of a BBS-1 1.0mm gap compared to a Wolfman Wr2 1.45 gap,
Even on my camera zoom the difference in gaps is easily seen, the Wr2 is a whole 0.45mm bigger.

JimmyH asked in a previous post if it would be possible to measure a blade gap with a Vernier gauge,
The answer no, not really on smaller gaps, I just managed to capture this for your interest,
