It's more like a personal preference, it depends on many factors. Me personally I find 80mm handle the best it gives me more control and maneuvering ability, I like also the wight of the solid handle, i find titanium and hollow handles too light, but it's just me.

To clarify, form is more important than function then?

Well, the longer 98mm handle is, to me, an unknown quantity. If I had hundreds of dollars to throw around I'd get one of each, but as it is I have to restrain myself and get one, or the other. I know what the standard length/weight is like.

For instance, I have the Guerrilla with the hollow handle. It's 'alright', but I prefer a weightier handle. If I were to get the 98mm, the only reason I'd consider the hollow option is figuring that the extra length would add more weight than I would want.

One reason I asked the question to begin with was the hope that enough guys who had tried both options would respond. Of course there is a limited population of people who have shaved with a Wolfman, let alone had the opportunity to try all of the options.

I see, you want the best one! Ha! I have tried/owned most of the options, except hollow although I can certainly see the desire for hollow, for reasons you already stated. I have one of the lightest (80mm solid TiWRH2) and probably the heaviest (100mm solid SS WRH1)....and I like them both, for different reasons. Both are fun to play with.

The regular WRH7 is probably my second least favorite. It's pretty, but it is too narrow at the grip, for my hands. I had a WRH7XL in solid SS. It is by far my favorite, great diameter at the grip and long enough to catch my pinky for some extra control. I liked it so much, I have one in TI (solid) and 2 solid Ti Hybrid handles both based on the 7XL. It's odd how that little bit of increased scale turned a good hand into a great handle, for me.

I am partial to the 7XL for both function and form. If I was forced to limit my selection to just one...it's 7XL based, no question. Now, if I was into SOTD photography, the Darwin in it's custom stand on a WR1 head is pretty hard to beat.

I know a couple of guys have used the 7XL and commented earlier in the thread. Maybe they will chime in again. If you haven't read all of the posts in this thread, it's interesting/entertaining, if not educational. You may get enough opinions there to feed your decision.

The WRH3 is my personal favorite and I like longer handles so I have a SS hollowed out WRH3 paired with my WR2 SS DC. Perfect balance for me but I think I want another WRH1 but this time the XL version. I had a WRH1 SS in the 90mm length paired with my WR1 but sold that handle because I thought it was too short for me. Those 2 handles are my favorites.

That solid WRH1 SS 100mm is a handful at 105g. If I ever order a hollow handle...that might be it.

Yep, I would order it hollow.

Like the long solid ss handle. Especially partial to WRH2 in polished which features on all duFours in my rotation save BBS1

90mm sweet spot with the solid H1 and H2 being my preference. While I’ve found they balance better with the WR2 head than the WR1...they were still my preference in the WR1 head as well. The solid 90mm H7 balanced the best with the WR1 head. I’ve found shorter than 90mm I hold the razor too firmly with the fingers. Longer than 90mm and the base of the handle interacts too much with the heel of my hand.

90mm works well for me too...I have the WRH1 coming...and I chose hollow
because it will be about 74gm...that's about the highest I will go.

My two fave handles from JD are Darwin and WRH1.

WRH2 reminds me too much of the Brit Aristocrats.
3 and 7 each have elements I like, but not the whole package.
I have seen a hybrid he does of 3 and 7 which is interesting
but I don't know if he still does it...maybe you have to email
him and request it.

I have not, but I do know they are going out.  My razors are generally at the tail end of the run.  Since you are my favorite, I'll let you know when mine heads out the door. Smile
