I appreciate, really, everyone experiences. No doubts or stupid discussion on this. But I don’t see clarity enough. Have I been clear before, mates?* I hope so.

*Example: 74 gap (SB? OC? SS? Ti?) is not great in efficiency. Ok, thanks. But: who is that not for in your opinion? For someone with coarse beard? For someone who shaves once for week? For who?
This is completely omitted everytime.

It's been 24 hours since I used the 115 WR2 and the regrowth is now evenly present,
although it's feels rougher on the neck, which it always does for me. So 1.15 was a
good choice and I totally agree that this could be the ideal gap for anyone considering the WR2
heads with the intention of getting only one.

The thing about a good razor is that it makes you re-evaluate the others.
It's quite telling that Ive already moved a few out of the den.

I believe that’s what this thread is trying to do, give thoughts on the WR2 and how it compares to the WR1 and other Razors. If people haven’t had the opportunity to try a bunch of different Blade gaps, then it could be a daunting task trying to decide what Blade Gap to choose should the opportunity present itself.
+1 just trying to help people navigate the gaps. Especially the higher gaps, my preference. I wish there had been a robust conversation on the high gap WR1 head when I started. I couldn't find it, so I had to figure it out on my own. Now there is a WR2 head to navigate as well.

There is a lot of good information in this thread from the beginning, from a lot of different guys. It has morphed, yes, but for good reason, IMO. May save a man from making a $600 mistake.

Please, clarify: preference based on what? This is the omission.

Based on the fact I prefer razors that cut well on my face? Based on the many dozens of razors I've tried and sold? Based on what I kept? My skin? My beard? My growth for the day? My face map? Preference is terribly individualized, you should know that. You seem to be trying to make this much harder than it is. I don't understand your point.

Not every shave review is a scientific paper. In fact, I don't think any of them are. It's just a guy with a razor in his hand. I can describe a razor to you but until you actually lay blade to face, you are guessing. With enough information provided and good questions on the reader's part, you can certainly narrow that guess down. That's all I try to do, help friends narrow choices.

FWIW...I don't shave daily. Never have, never will. If I did, I'd have two razors. Fortunately, I shave when I want to, never because I have to. I might have 24hrs of growth, I may have 7 days growth. The fun of the hobby, to me, is having different razors for different growth. Consider it an adjustable, if you will. But in the end, they all produce the same result but as Hunter pointed out, some shaves last longer than others.

This whole forum thing works well, if you work it. Read. Find guys that like the same kind of razors as you. Compare notes publicly and privately. Bam! You have new friends who's opinions you can lean on when deciding what to buy next. They may even be able to help you place the order by giving you the GO sign.

I think you misunderstood my question. My apologies if I wasn't good enough to make the point. I really agree with you about the fact that there are too many variables. You said perfectly: 'Fortunately, I shave when I want to, never because I have to. I might have 24hrs of growth, I may have 7 days growth'. This is exactly what I was referring to. Why don't you write this when you post your thoughts? Users should know, I think. I mean: I used my 1.35 on 7days growth etc. I know there are so many variables... at least we should write the most important, don't you think? I can't read: '1.25 is not efficient enough' (just an example). What does it mean? Based on daily, thick beard? This is my point.

No apologies, please. Your point is well made. If info is missing from a post you are particularly interested in, ask for clarification. Personally, I would appreciate the interaction. I take a bird's eye view sometimes and clip detail to save keystrokes, I hate typing, especially on a phone. Brevity though, can lead to confusion.

Living on the edge
There is a fairly long WR1 head discussion on another forum but it is date around the time when JD was only offering standard gap WR1
and the 0.74 was a customised option....and the highest level of efficiency available. What a blast that was to read.

Those were also the times when JD allowed customers to buy as much product as they wanted when their # came up.
A guy there posted a single order invoice of something like 4 stands, 5 different handles and 6 heads (all same gap, different materials).
And he had never opened them or removed the wrapper on them....wanted to keep them BNIB.

Still learning the ways of the WR2 head....

since the blade feel on it is so elusive, it is very easy to apply more pressure than necessary

I did that yesterday and irritated the skin on my neck....

Today I used a wonderfully slick wholly kaw soap and a very light touch...got a perfect irritation free shave.

LOOT ...what was the story with the .94 Ti?

I'm not a fan. It is the only Ti WR1 I've tried but the material was not kind to the head like it is with the WR2. The WR1 94SS is a fantastic shaver. It has lots of blade feel and it's consistent. There is no question where the blade is at any time. It's super efficient yet very comfortable and forgiving.

The 94Ti has more blade feel than the SS and it cuts closer. It has the face feel of an iKon Tech, to me. It just feels sharp. It hard to describe. It's not comfortable, dare I say harsh? The only other JD head I didn't really like was the WR2 1.25OC in SS. It was similarly harsh with no benefit of extra efficiency over the SB. At least the 94Ti gained efficiency with the sacrifice of comfort. I know there are some guys that like the feel of the iKon Tech. The 94Ti is for you.

I had hoped Titanium would improve on a good thing as with the WR2 does in any gap. The WR2 may give up a little bit of efficiency to it's SS counterpart but it makes up for it, to me, with a more comfortable face feel.

I have not run the Ti94SB vs Ti135SB side-by-side but my feeling is the 94Ti cuts closer. It could just be the harshness makes it feel like it's cutting closer. I can run them at the same time, if anyone cares. I'm not real sure I care to load the 94Ti again tho, unless it's for science. Smile The 135Ti is a vastly superior razor and produces nearly the same result.

In the WR1 SB head, .94m gap, I certainly prefer the SS. No question.

Knowing all of that...I would still like to try an 86Ti, hoping it may be better.

Thanks for all the input! I wouldn't have guessed that there would been that much of a difference between the Ti and SS WR1. Good to know!
