Review: Timeless Razor's OC model

I've been struggling with the Timeless.  I get a very very close shave from it, but a little irritation and almost always at least one nick.  My technique is now reasonable, and I don't cut myself with other razors, and I keep pressure to a minimum.  Just can't quite master the Timeless OC.

I hope you get it sorted.  I have had more weepers with the handle I am using this week.  I'll finish out the week with this handle and then try another.

After finishing out with the Supply Provisions SE this week I can't wait to return to the Timeless. Plan on using with a Stork Ti Aristocrat handle although I very much like the balance with the stock Timeless handle. Just love aristocrats.

Will be interesting to see if it has a negative impact on the performance as I have not had any issues with weepers, nicks etc. using the artisan setup.

wintoid I also hope that you are able to work things out as this is my favorite razor out of many, many tried.

This guy requires a steady and gentle hand. Had a cranky 2.5 year old to deal with as I tried a feather for the first time in the OC yesterday. It was a blood-bath...decided to finish off with the blackbird and come back to the Timeless OC the following day. Today, I took my time with prep and tried again with a fresh Feather in the OC, 3 passes later I had a very close and irritation free shave except for one tiny spot on my adams apple. No buffing was required under my jawline which surprised me....with the feather blade, the OC goes up a notch in aggressiveness. With regards to the handle, I've been using a weber SS bulldog lately...it balances out the heavy OC head nicely.

Got the Timeless Razor 'Master Kit' in the mail yesterday, and shaved with the scallop head TR this morning.

I, too, was concerned with the blade gap and open comb, but the shave was surprisingly smooth. I used my usual Feather Platinum blade, and I found the Timeless to be smooth, but at the same time very efficient. After a couple of passes, I could have stopped with an excellent shave.

I didn't of course, and did a third pass and then touch up. No irritation, a very close and comfortable shave.


I got the new 14x100mm handle, and the balance was very good. It's a substantial razor, to be sure, but it didn't feel overly heavy-just good solid heft you'd expect from a solid stainless razor.


I'm happy to have gotten the 'Master Kit', in that I can interchange the two heads and two bases, so I can have the scalloped head with an open comb or not, and the solid bar head with both bases. It will be fun experimenting.

And here's something we don't hear often: My better half liked the way the scalloped razor looked so much, she insisted that I keep it out on display.

Perhaps the most impressive thing about the Timeless was the customer support experience I had. I wrote to the company this morning-a Saturday morning-with some questions about the razor, interchangeability, cleaning, etc. Expected a response on Monday. I got a response from Doug@Timeless today with a detailed answer and he was extremely accommodating and helpful. It makes me happy when I invest in a good quality product and the company behind that product provides such solid support.

Thanks, Michael P . Care to share what he said with regard to cleaning, etc.?

Oh, sure, 120inna55, I had asked him if there was anything special he'd recommend for cleaning the razor. I told him that I cleaned my other stainless razors by either putting a few drops of Dawn or a few spritzes of Simple Green in some water, letting the razor sit for a few minutes, and then giving it a good rinsing and drying. Doug said that what I was doing was 'completely fine'. This has worked well with the other SS razors I have, but I wanted to be sure. If I'm feeling excessively OCD, I'll take a soft toothbrush and give it a gentle going over after it's out of the soap and before rinsing.

Today, I used the Timeless with the smooth cap and the straight bar.

I was expecting it to be 'milder' than the open comb I used yesterday, but it was equally 'efficient'. Looking at the gap and the blade exposure in the picture below, I think you'll see why. Again, I was a bit apprehensive seeing so much blade, but the shave went well-no weepers, nicks, etc.

I didn't have much of a beard this morning after yesterday's shave, but after 2 passes, WTG, ATG, there was no need for a third pass. A couple of the usual spots for touchup, and it was a very quick, very smooth shave.

I'll need to use this razor more to assess it, and play with the two permutations I haven't tried yet (scalloped head with straight bar and smooth head with open comb) but based on the first couple of shaves, I think it's a very efficient razor with excellent heft and build quality.

I've never used the original handle, but the new handle provides really good balance, and it was no problem maintaining both the angle and a light pressure. So far, very, very good.

Any comparisons to a Wolfman? My favorite razor for the best few months so just a good baseline to compare -- just love its smoothness and efficiency.
