I am curious about this Razor. For those of you that have either the OC or SB can you compare the blade feel and smoothness to some vintage Gillette Razors like the New LC, Red Tip or Slim? I know the blade gap is .95 but many times that does not give a complete picture.

I purchased the Open Comb with the new handle. Quality is top notch and it's a beautiful and very well-balanced piece of machinery. The WTG and XTG passes are awesome - exceptionally smooth and they can clear a lot of stubble. For the life of me though, I cannot seem to get a good ATG shave with this razor. I end up with either rough patches or weepers. I'm sure it's because I'm still trying to find that perfect ATG sweet spot, but with my H2, R41 and all my SEs, my third pass always leaves me spotless with no irritation or weepers.

Stick with it Merelymoe, once you find that sweet spot I am sure it will leave you smooth and irritation free. Clint64 the razors that you listed in have no experience with but to me the razor is extremely smooth and efficient. I know everyone is different but it really hits my sweet spot, can easily use it daily and not get any irritation. As Moe said the quality and craftsmanship of these razors are top knotch and I am certainly glad to have one in my den.

Just ordered the Open Comb Head only. The web site indicated a week lead time so it shouldn't be that long of a wait.

Finally found the sweet spot this morning! I went a little shallower on the angle than I'm used to on my ATG pass and that seemed to do the trick. Got one nick but that was due to being distracted by my runts and no fault of the razor. Now to lock the sweet spot into muscle memory...

Congrats on finding the correct angle. I am expecting delivery on mine Tuesday so depending on the postal service it will be up for its maiden voyage Wednesday or Thursday.

Moe, glad to hear it went so well with the shave this morning. I believe me and Kevin were discussing the shallow angle required, and I've noticed it is easier for me to maintain the angle with the shorter handle. However I do love the look and feel of thier 100mm offering and with a little extra attention it is not that big of a deal.

Clint I look forward to your thoughts this week and hope it serves you as well as it has those of us who are already enjoying this fine razor.

Timeless OC with Hempel Ti
Feather (1)

[Image: 4D58584A-C188-4CF1-84FE-041A365F5FBA_zpsyahrbyxt.jpg]

I received the Timeless OC Head yesterday. Since I have accumulated several handles, I decided to go with the head only. A couple of observations. The razor is stunning. Pictures failed to capture the true look of the razor. The polishing was first rate on the bottom plate and the outside of the top cap. The inside of the top cap was not polished or finished to the same standard. This in no way impacted the shave or my overall impressions of the razor.

There was no need to fiddle as I loaded the new Feather blade. The razor held the blade firmly in perfect alignment. I decided to proceed with a traditional 3 pass shave, WTG, XTG, & ATG. With such a large blade gap, one would think it would be a fairly aggressive razor. While I did feel the blade, I never felt as if it would bite me. Nothing like an Ikon Tech for example. However, the Timeless OC was very efficient much like my Wolfman OC. Overall I am very pleased with the initial shave and I expect the shaves will improve as I become more accustomed to the razor.
