Early on when the page on IB was put up, I set up the notification on 2 separate email addresses (work and personal so that I would get the notification either way depending on the time of day) and today I received a grand total of 0 emails. This seems to be a trend when I sign up for email notifications on IB, as the only success I have with the “rush” products is from finding out on a forum. Then months after purchase I’ll get the first email informing me they’re back in stock.
In fact, for the Wunderbar and Baby Smooth I wasn’t successful at chasing them after not getting notified, so in frustration I outright just decided not to purchase one. Now that the hype or demand has died down I could get either one quite easily but I can confidently say I will never purchase either at this point.
My guess is that IB only sends out a limited amount of emails depending on how much stock they have, but as soon as word is out on a forum the notification list is irrelevant. I wish signing up for a notification meant you get a notification no matter what. If you don’t get one, sign up again and have confidence that you’ll be notified the next time it’s available.
IB (obviously) can do whatever they want with their notifications, but as a consumer it’s so frustrating to be told you’ll know when a product is back in stock and then find out from a forum that they just didn’t bother to follow through.

If you were the 501st person to sign up for the product, and they only get 500 in stock, you will not receive an e-mail.
As already stated, the problem is that even if you get an e-mail, people who just happened to already be on the site, or heard the news through a forum or social media, may have made the purchase before you get there.
The good news is that Joe has said they will continue to make the product until demand has been satisfied. Which means that anyone who signed up, but didn’t get a notice this time, should be getting a notice next time the item is back in stock (or the next time after that, once again depending on how many people signed up before you).
Whenever I go to shave, I assume there’s someone else on the planet shaving, so I say “I’m gonna go shave, too.”
