If we can get past complaining about posts we haven't actually bothered to read, there is a logistics issue that is to everyone's benefit to address:

- The email notification system is valuable to Razorock because it helps with deciding how many to build.
- The email system provided little perceived value to customers, because few were actually notified.
- Customers actually improved their odds of getting a razor from the first (or future) batches by registering for notification despite receiving no notification.

The obvious problem with that approach is that Joe needs people to continue to register for email that they know they probably won't get to gauge demand for future products. If customers see no value in it though, registration and thus future batch size will fall. Berating fellow customers for commenting on what did not work is missing the forest for the trees.

No complaint with Joe/RR/IB is intended. My razor is coming today (with a leather travel pouch I was not expecting), and I wouldn't be upset even if it was not. Part of how I earn a living is looking for stuff that does not actually work the way it was intended and coming up with a way to fix it.

And I have not yet asked whether the system is smart enough to figure out who registered, was not notified, but purchased anyway. If not, that could lead to over-production of what is now a current product (the GC) even while leading to under-production on future products.

Why do I care? Well as I said, solving problems is what I do. I also patronize IB for a variety of products, so Joe's success benefits me.

Twitter helped me get one of those too. It was not nearly as hard as people make it out to be. The finish of the razor was amazing, but it wasn't the best razor that I've ever used.

The website performed flawlessly (from my perspective) during the actual sale, and so far I think Joe has done a stellar job in cranking out such a widely-anticipated release.

The notify app has a reference-back loop.

As an example, say we put 100 products in stock and 200 people are signed up. It will send 10 emails and waiting a certain amount of time for them to buy, then it will reference the stock and if say 80 are still in stock, it will send 8 more emails and waiting again. It's designed so people that get the email have some time to buy.

The other thing we could do is send out all the emails at the same time. For example, 1000 razors go in stock, 6000 people on the notification. The problem is then 5000 people get really pissed off because they got an email and by the time they went to look they are gone and now they have to sign up again and get in line again. The emails are sent in the order received so preference is giving to people that sign up the earliest. The email notification list also gives us a good gauge of demand so we can setup shop time and buy enough billets. Without the email list, I wouldn't be able to gauge demand and probably would start out with a much smaller production to manage my risk.

Email notifications don't work good when you have a product like the Game Changer where current demand far outweighs supply. We are also notifying people on Twitter and Instagram about the drop times, for more clarity. I know some people have emailed me and said they aren't on social media. Unfortunately, I don't have a better system at this time; social media is fast, free and efficient. I don't think it really matter how I notify, if demand is 10x more than supply, there are going to be people that want it, don't get it and are really upset.

My promise is that I will keep making them as long as they keep selling (every month), so if you want one, you'll get it eventually. Based on past experience, demand and supply will balance out in a few months and then we will be able to keep a nice amount of them in stock at all times.

Please bare with us, we are doing what we can on our end.

Definitely in no way is this bashing James. He does business the way he chooses, I respect that, but, I still have no clue how to get a Wolfman razor. At IB, I get 3-4 emails month even asking me (YES???) Why are people asking me? Apparently, they try to email Wolfman with no response. I tried to get one for 8-9 months and gave up. Then I posted a WTB thread and finally was able to buy one for more than retail. I actually got lucky because the Gent I bought it from requested no engravings on it so I was able to use it for blind comparisons with our razors, which was super helpful and something I didn't plan for.

The finish was nice on the Wolfman and I get nice shaves from it, but I was disappointed in the tolerances. My guess is because they are hand finished. It's near impossible to hand finish a piece and not mess with the tolerances. Right then and there I know I didn't want our Razorock razors hand finished. It seemed counter productive to demand our machine shop work to 2-3 thousands of an inch and then for the finished product to be 5-6 thou because of the finishing process... not to mention that hand finishing comes at a huge cost due to the time involved.

There is always a market for super high priced, whether it's knives, watches, putters, etc etc. I think James has does a great job selling to this high end niche.

Received mine today and it was a very good shave. I’ll need some more time with it to come to any final conclusions. If you’re looking for a mild to mid aggressive daily razor this may be it if you’re used to more aggression probably not gonna fit the bill. Overall a great job by Joe and the Italian barber team.

I got my GC in the mail today. Great shave this morning!! Well done Joe. incredibly smooth shave. If you can produce some more aggressive plates for this razor like you did with the MJ90, you may just be able to please everyone on this board

I didn’t have much time when I got home, but wanted to try the GC. No prep whatsoever, a quick squirt of Aveeno Theraputic goo (actually pretty good stuff for goo) onto dry skin, a fresh Personna Red, and a couple of quick passes.

Wow! What a great shave!

Can’t wait to see what it can do with decent prep and some good soap! Two thumbs up, Joe!
