They will get it right if something is wrong, the company has way too much experience with razors to leave inferior design on their shelves. Ming Shi along with the original Merkur have issues from time to time, its the fault of the original design and looks like Ming Shi haven't found a way to produce worry free Futur clone so neither have Merkur done the same. One bad razor out of 100 is doable and they offer either refunds or replacement

An adjustable like the Parthenon has WAY more moving parts than the Futur/Ming shi clone though. I don't know of anyone that has received a bad futur from Merkur, and if they did Merkur is VERY easy to contact and deal with. The Ming Shi seemed to be a hit or miss from all of the forums that I have read. Not a coin flip, but a large enough sample size from what I have read to raise an eyebrow. I look forward to hearing about other people here when they get their Parthenon. I know I'll give my thoughts when I get mine.

Like I said in a different thread to Razor Emporium if the Parthenon sucks I'll use the feather blades and let my toddler nephew hammer nails with it. It is what it is.

This is the response I received from Q Shave, this morning. I found the suggestions and information rather a bit odd as this issue should have been foreseen and rectified in the development stages. They sent a video along with the email, but unfortunately, the adjustment dial on my razor is completely seized and I cannot get it to move.
Hopefully, those of you who ordered this razor won't experience the same issue.

"Hello Celestino,

Sincerely sorry for the issue.

The adjustment dial got stuck perhaps because the butterfly top was twisted too tight. You could try to twist the butterfly top to open a little bit, then try to turn the dial. If you keep the butterfly open at the largest andle and you can't turn the dial, then cloes the top a little bit and try again. Th razor is assmbled by parts, so the too tight or too loose butterfly parts may influence the adjustment parts.

The function of the dial is supported by a spring inside. Normal spring is soft and won't last long. So we pick one harder spring so the working life of the razor becomes longer. It would need more strength to turn the dial for the first several shaves. But as time goes, the spring would become softer and it would be easier to turn the dial.

Besides as the razors are assembled by parts, the friction of new razors might be large and cause resistance while turning. You could try to turn the dial to the max (or 9). Hold the top parts with your fingers and snap. Then you will hear a clear voice like dada. Repeat a few times and this would help reduce the friction so the dial could turn smoothly. Please check attached video.

If you still have any question, feel free to let me know.

Regards,

Iris"

Looked at the review, where are the baseplate holes that were in all the original pics?
So a brand new design and there are a few teething issues? Some may say these issues should not have happened and maybe rightly so.But were people actually not expecting some problems with the release? There have been a couple of adjustables that have had issues, some may say they should have been sorted before release as well. But at least one has sorted those problems and is now very popular some months later, and another still hasn't been fully released at all many, many months later.Six months from now I reckon this razor will be sorted so I will wait to consider purchase.Good marketing strategy, release and find the problems,refund/replace those, fix the problems over the next few months or so,and have a working product ready in time for the biggest Western shopping period of the year.

Today I used this razor for the first time so this in no way is a review just a first impressions. I used it right in the middle at 5 to get a feel for it. I used a new Feather blade since it came with 50. Well this razor is hefty due to it’s brass construction and long handle. The name also suits this razor perfectly. I’m glad they put lines in the handle, I found they allow you to control the razor well. This razor is a different design then any other razor I own. When the doors are open there is a rattle but everything fits snugly when closed with a blade installed, blade alignment is good and even as well as blade gap. I had an enjoyable 3 pass shave. One thing this razor did that many of my other razors can’t do is took down my old scar trouble spot well. I found holding this right at the junction of the TTO knob and handle was a good balance point to control the razor. My biggest complaint is rinsing it, it seemed to need rinsing more frequently than most razors and was tougher to rinse, I did use a declaration soap so potentially thicker than other soaps. Al l in all my first impression is this is a good value razor for someone on a budget, solid brass so that will last, the only thing that may be a concern is the moving parts of the adjustment and TTO but only time will tell. $50 with 50 feather blades I can’t see much of a downside for someone on a budget

Well I just got my shipping conformation. I'll let you know if I hear any dada voices in my head when it gets here.
