It seems this base works well for me and my N Texas hard water. Also, does anyone know if there are any other scents in the works? By the way, the Fern is still my favorite smelling.

To my knowledge, aside from the standard Reserve line, the only other scents Will made in that base were Soap Makers of Awesometown and Fougere Gothique.

Promises and Eventide are in the Glissant base.

Current list of Reserve base soaps include: Fougére Gothique, Soapmakers of Awesometown (actually the beta), Spice, Classic, Cool, Fern & Lavender.

You can see the entire History of Barrister and Mann for more details.

Correct-ish.  SoA was essentially a beta Reserve base.

Bravo for your review of B&M Promises, 120inna55 !  Your reviews always seem to "take me there" on a journey through the scent as it develops for you.  Thank you!

I, too, remember that smell of the new G.I. Joe and Star Wars figures(definitely NOT dolls.)

I'm really enjoying the two seasonal soap scents -- Promises and Eventide.

Of course not. Action figures and we didn't play with them per se, we re-enacted scenes Big Grin

So I don't share this scent memory as when I was in my G.I. Joe action figure days they were much bigger, like 12" high and Star Wars hadn't happened yet hence no Star Wars action figures. I did have a Major Matt Mason though and if you can believe it, my G.I. Joe came in a German army uniform, regular army not SS. I don't recall that he smelled of anything in particular.

I must be an in between age(48,) because I had the larger G.I. Joe action figures and also the Star Wars 3 1/2"(~88mm) action figures. I saw the original Star Wars movie 8 times in the theater.

So, more on topic, I recently used B&M Seville(Glissant base) and it performed wonderfully! Smells great, too! I should pick up the matching aftershave. I don't have any of the current regular line of aftershaves. I've read the ingredients. Does anyone care to share their experience with the performance of the current Seville aftershave formula?

Hi Rob,

I haven't used the Current Seville aftershave, however, I have used the Bay rum aftershave and I assume its the same formula. Its nice, I recommend it. Seville is a really nice soap, awesome barbershop scent but not like others - thats the mark of Barrister and Mann. Unique.

Will, I didn't make the connection until now - is the name for Promises inspired by the Robert Frost poem Stopping By Woods On a Snowy Evening? A great poem.

Stopping By Woods On a Snowy Evening

Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village, though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.

My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.

He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound's the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.

The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

Yes. The poem is included in the description on the product page on B&M's site.
