Sinfonia: Quick Takes
Make no mistake, Sinfonia has jasmine. I am quite partial to white florals, owning and enjoying the following: Diptyque's Olene, Frederic Malle's Carnal Flower and Serge Luten's Tubereuse Criminelle.
The driver behind jasmine's distinct heady aroma is a family of organic compounds known as Indoles. In small concentrations, it is perceived as sweet and floral, but in larger concentrations - it can smell of decay. That is why, depending on one's sensitivities, white florals, such as jasmine or tuberose, can be fairly polarizing scents.
In Sinfonia, the jasmine is joined by apricot, which highlights the sweet, floral aspects of jasmine. Apricot is no slouch in this pairing either: she makes her fruity presence known, adding her tart, peach-like touch to the scent. Their sweet floral fruity dance reminds me of another encounter that I had, one which involved rose and raspberry.
Could I tell where the jasmine ends, and where the apricot begins? No, I cannot. And that is the hallmark of a masterfully blended perfume.
Fantastic.
