I have to agree re: the 1.35 vs the mighty Blackbird,
In my experience the step up from 1.35 to 1.45 is significant, however I did not find going from 1.45 to 1.55 to be as beneficial, the 1.55 for me gave way a little smoothness for Very little more efficiency,
I have settled on the 1.45 as the sweet spot for the Wr2 gaps, as always Ymmv.
I look forward to hearing your shimmed comparisons Cool

Tester28, LOOT, JimmyH and anyone else who has both, do you agree with the above assessment on 1.45 vs 1.55: does 1.55 have a drop in smoothness? Or is it just as smooth as 1.45?

It's a tricky one....Ive only used the 1.55 Ti and that one is very smooth for me compared to a 1.45 in brushed satin.
There is a just a smidge more blade feel in the 1.55
As Ive noted before I find the SS 1.45 a little more lively than the 1.55Ti.

Bottom line: both are really smooth for what they are.

Nailed it!

a lot of this depends on regrowth rate.

Agreed, I have a heavy regrowth rate and the 1.25 is more than enough for daily shaving... I switch to my Diamondback 2020 when I need a break.

I've got the same two razors. The feel of the two are little different. SS a little slicker. I've not run them sided by side but concur with Mr. Tester. I generally run the 155. There is a difference in efficiency and blade feel gap to gap which, for me, is pretty linear. If I were doing it again, I'd start at 115 and go 135, 155 from there. 2 gap separation is easier to distinguish the difference.

As to smoothness, yes, I think it drops a little bit through the gap range, unlike the WR1 head. The WR2 head doesn't lose much tho.

I’ve been finding that my 1.45SB is providing not only the closest shaves of my life but has of all the razors I’ve ever tried what I consider to be the ideal blade feel too. Just love this thing.

That's a great razor but I would recommend you get the handle hollowed because the WRH1 could be very heavy as I already have that and I wish I would have ordered it hollow

I have never had the 1.45 so I cannot speak to that. in WR2 I've got the BBS-1, which is essentially the same design, @ 1.00 gap IIRC, the 1.15 in OC, 1.25 OC/SB, and the 1.55 SB. For me the 1.55 is king of the hill, but I get great shaves with all of the above. OTOH, I also get great shaves with WR1 0.75, 0.86, 0.94. I could get along with any one of them and nothing else.

How does the .94 compare to your WR2 1.55 in smoothness and efficiency. I have a 1.55 and will be getting a .94 DC in a few weeks.

This is exactly why the WR2 1.15 is the dead nuts sweet spot for me. I shave daily and if I want to use the best razor in my den - i.e. my Wolf - as my daily driver, I can’t go with any higher a gap or I won’t have enough stubble to warrant a shave the next morning. It’s pretty simple. To me, it’s not a contest to see how long I can go until I need to shave again. I face every day with a kick-ass BBS.

TBH I had a hard time with the .94 initially. It seemed harsh to me, unlike the .74 and the .86. Mine is a DC and I had to shave with it for a week or more exclusively until I either got used to it, or subconsciously figured out the metrics of getting a comfortable shave with it. To me it feels more aggressive than my other WR1s, and my WR2s. I suppose I had to do a lighter touch thing with it. I don't even know ... I'm sort of on auto pilot when I shave.
