So, back to the mundane in trying to determine what set-up to get.  One thing is decided for certain though:  my first Wolfman will be a razor I'd instinctively reach for daily.  For a moment I considered a higher gap (say, 1.25 WR2) as a "special use" razor.  But I am firm that I don't want my first one to be a razor I'd only use the 4 or 5 times a year that I have > 48 hours of growth (I shave 6 days/week probably 45-48 weeks out of the year).

If I had to order right now, it'd be a 0.95 WR2 with a hollow WRH3 or maybe WRH1 as it is probably grippier and thus more utilitarian.

Which razors (other than Blackland Vector) have you been using as daily shavers?

Pretty much only the Vector; occasionally my type I-2 HydroMagic injector.  SE is what's had my interest.   I prefer those formats over DE from a blade standpoint for sure.

I see, thanks.
I was wondering how you’ve decided on the .95 gap on a WR2, ie if you had any DE razor(s) you were using as a “reference”...

I currently only own 4 razors, but very recently had as many as 19 on hand.  I've been in this game for almost a decade; I have a solid sense of what works for me, and am judging what I'd want from a WR2 based on this thread and getting to know other posters' preferences over the years (so I can decipher their takes).  I had held out on getting a Wolfman for years.  I despise drop systems in general (YMMV folks, not trying to start a religious war here), and even though I was aware of the order form as early as late last September, I waited to get on the list mostly because the last year has been spent mostly culling my "collection" of shave gear.  My head just wasn't in acquisition mode until the past 5 months or so.

Since I'm a high gap guy, and have a1.15/1.25 DC, 1.25 OC & 1.55 SB in WR2, 0.74 DC, 0.86 OC & 0.94 DC in WR1, I've been thinking of a 0.95 or 1.05 in my next WR2. Then it occurred to me that my BBS-1 is 1.00 IIRC ...

So I shaved a two day growth with it yesterday. I rarely use it. I loaded a new Feather since I've read it was designed to be used with that.

A marvelous two pass WTG/ATG shave.

TBH I can get a marvelous shave out of any of the aforementioned Wolfman razors. Whether one, two, or more days growth. YMMV.

My number won't be coming up until late in 2020, if not 2021 ... maybe I'll just wait for Ti to be available. I've pretty much got all the bases covered now.

These sentiments and pork’s really have me thinking the 1.25 might be the sweet spot rather than the 1.55 I’ve been considering.

I don't want to put words in LOOT's mouth and then quote him  Rolleyes but I'm pretty sure I've seen him say 'with the WR2 even high gaps, such as the 1.55 are smooth, and irritation free.' At least that is my experience. Later today, with one day's growth, I'll shave with the 1.55 and report back.

I've figured out the gap but now I'm thinking do I go DC or not? SB and OC or SB with differing gaps? Initially I was just going for SB with the same gap on each side.

This is the WR1.

I’ve been debating the same for a WR2..... wondering whether to get SB on both sides, but with different gaps....  Confused2

With the SB/OC combo, it’s always easy to spot which side you’re using, without having to think much about it. I wonder if having different SB gaps can become a bit of a pain to use, as you always need to pay attention and check which gap you’re about to use...?

Good point, they won't be marked up so unless they are very different it would be easy to use the wrong side.
