To my experience, yes.

My WR1 is a 0.61 DC and I adore that gap. For my skin it gives me the best shaves. It's as high as I can comfortably go with a WR1. I've extensively tried different gaps. The 1.15 WR2 is as high as I can comfortably go. I can get an extremely close shave but it can be too much at times. The 1.05 is much better for my the skin but I do miss that extra efficiency I get from the 1.15. So for me the .61 is equal or in the same ballpark as the 1.05 / 1.15. If anything I'd say the 0.61 would equal a 1.10 WR2. This is my experience and how it feels on my skin.

Oh wow. In that case, the .61 is definitely out of the question since the .95SB on the WR2 is as aggressive as I'd go. I think the .48 is probably too inefficient, though...

Have used every gap and head combo from 0,48 thru is it 0,74?? (next step up from 0,67).  Settled on and purchased 0,54/0,61/0,67 as well as BBS1 - just saying experienced on the milder sides of WR1 and WR2s

0,48 would take a Feather to match a 0,54 it is THAT mild (and even then not really)  Too mild for me and that states a lot!

In the past, I have owned a WR2 95 and also a WR1 54. They are, for all intents and purposes, the same level of aggression and very comfortable comfortable shavers. If the 95 hits the mark for you, the 54 is the gap you want. However, I wanted a little bit more efficiency and now own a 105 and a 61. I am a happy camper.

The Lupo is supposedly a .61 clone if you were interested in giving it a shot. Likely not as good as the real deal, but if you really were torn it may give you some insight.

That's very similar to my experience. I find the 1.15 keeps the same smoothness but elevates the closeness of the shave by a notch or two but I need to give my skin a day longer to recuperate and I have to pay closer attention.

I like the mild razor/sharp blade combos but I have never gotten a Feather to work for me, so the .54 it is.

Thanks. Based on everything you guys have said, the .54 seems like the way to go for sure.

I own the Lupo Aluminum and that one works excellent for me. I just don't love the light weight and resulting tuggy feeling shave....even if the end result is fantastic every time.

When I read about all you guys using those higher gaps, it makes my head spin. I barely get away with a WR2 1.15 or Karve D plate :-) On the other hand I've successfully been able to handle any straight razor in the past 38 years of using them.

I have a wr2 1.55 on the way to me. I've been consistently Wetshaving for less than a year and I tend to prefer higher gaps as well. Lets just hope I didn't go too high lol
