Wolfman WR2 Head Discussion

...Just curious since he is just making stainless steel - why not hire another machinist.

Because Canada is a huge "Red state" and it's like hiring someone down here in NY or CA, i.e., insanely expensive.

I am on the waiting list...expecting a waiting time of approximately 8 months. I have been thinking about the market and how the resale might be affected down the line. I am not purchasing this razor with that intention, however, I can't help but think that market saturation, even with this high-end product, might affect prices should I, for whatever reason, be unhappy with my razor. Thoughts? I am also considering just keeping my eye out for one on the BST market. Might save some serious cash. This purchase is a mos def "want", rather than a need.

You can buy on the BST but you will pay a premium. You will pay $300 for a head + handle in basic finish direct from Wolfman. Most sellers are listing Wolfman's for a 200% markup. James is a perfectionist. I've worked with guys like him in the high end carpentry field years ago. They are so good at what they do that it is almost impossible for them to find help they are satisfied with. 

For me the used market for Wolfman is down to something I want badly that I cannot get from James directly. For those who don't have any, or they don't have the gap they want it is still an active pursuit. 

I think about the market if James ever stops making them !

If you ran a business that put out a quality product, you would rather not sell more units of said product? You'd rather make less money?

As the business owner yes it, but it's also become as popular as it has because of the rarity along with the quality. 
I'm not saying it as a bad thing, because as a business owner he should care less about what aftermarket prices are. But for collectors who bought them at really high after market prices hoping they made a good investment will prove to have not been so much.

I think you meant a 100% markup, or 200% of MSRP. A 200% markup would be 3x the MSRP. Things haven’t gotten that crazy....yet.
