The budget finish isn’t as good as the finish on my WR1, but it’s definitely good enough considering the price difference. It looks similar to the finish on my Timeless.

I think for me, moving forward I will be going with the budget brushed finish. While the polish is indeed beautiful I have been spoiled by James work in previous releases. I think the brush will be more forgiving of tooling marks and whatnot. Still impressive and I’m looking forward to receiving my budget polish wr1 to see in person.

I would like to provide a “dissenting opinion” on the opinions on aggression here:

For me, at wolfman pricing, I want something I can use every day without issue. I shave daily and my skin cannot handle the 1.15 for more than 3 days without having issues. I have used every regularly available gap that James offers from .95-1.25. While the efficient does improve, and the razor remains buttery smooth, there is a marked increase in blade feel and exposure.

So I just want the new guys, and guys that are unfamiliar to wolfman razors and gaps to hear another set of experiences when selecting gaps. The 1.15 is not a mild razor imo. I consider a tech to be a mild razor and the 1.15 is far more aggressive. There are folks out there, like myself, that enjoy the smaller gaps.

Obviously it’s all YMMV, but I felt a counterpoint to all the large gap love here was in order

And Loot - you’re nuts

Just paid Mr. Dufour invoice (I was in the same position like Roydrage).
I went this time with WR2 SB 1.15, Darwin handle, head and handle in polished mirror. No stand.

I have a 1.15SB WR2 that I like a lot, but I have to confess, I haven't used the same razor every day (or even every week!) since I started down this rabbit hole, thanks to a small but special group of enablers :-)

Sean, are you trying different blades in the 1.15? I imagine a feather and a GSB would feel very different from each other and might make the difference between an every-day razor and an occasional razor?

I am thinking about getting  a basic 1.55 SB next time I get a chance. After 6 shaves with the WR-2 1.15, I think I can handle it as a daily shaver (although this is still not a top tier razor for me). I just want to see how these crazy gap razors work. I also plan to borrow a 0.85 WR2 from a friend, maybe I will do a side by side with my future 1.55 Smile.

Yeah I use wizamets in everything. I experimented quite a bit. For sharp blades I prefer permasharps and Gillette 7o clock yellows. I like feathers in certain razors but not anything over a .95 wr2.

FWIW I prefer the feel of the 1.15 even, but I can’t use it daily for more than 3 days without getting irritation. The 1.05 - I can go 3 weeks or more and still not get irritation. I tried to fight it, but I have to admit that my face knows better than my brain.

I didn't think the budget polished finish looked too bad in the pics. The video changed my opinion, however. If I was going to buy my first Wolfman, and wanted to opt for the less expensive finish, I would definitely choose brushed over polished. IMO, the new polished finish doesn't look good.

Respectfully, I feel you may be over-reacting, unless, perhaps, you shave outside at noon Smile
