you cant go wrong with. 1.15....in fact I'll be willing to bet you'll want a 1.25 shortly after.

Mirror polish is great but it is a real bitch to maintain....it picks up glue spots
and hairline scratches from tightening down the blades. I clean my cap and plate with a soapy washcloth after every shave
and it adds 10 minutes to the job. If there is a next time for me I will seriously look at brushed satin finish.
True, I think there are no people here who are finally happy with Wolfman. Hardly one bought is already thought of next

Thank You Tester...

That will help me to rest easy for the next 2~3 weeks while I'm waiting...

Even if it's slightly on the aggressive side for me, I can use it with an Astra or Feather for special occasions
or Weekends, and do a Couple Days here and there with my Timeless SB .68 and a Permasharp to recover,
Still using the Wolfie most of the time!

I'm Extremely Anal also... My Ritual includes a final rinse & wipe down with a Microfiber Cloth, and the
Drying in my Razor Dyer and Sanitizer with UV Light. I've kept my Highly polished Razors pretty Pristine
Like this...

Thanks,

Tony

With all due respect, before I would attempt polishing a satin finish to a mirror I'd consider the expertise that has made Wolfman razors the work of art that they are. At the very least I'd practice on some other razors, perhaps a Rockwell 6S. I've seen amateur dremel polishing jobs on straight razors that made it obvious that a neophyte got hold of it. YMMV.

For me and my face - you can’t beat polsilver or especially wizamets in any wolfman razor. It’s all I use. I have a couple thousand of each I think lol

Did anyone from the first drop get the budget finishes? If so can you post pictures?

I bought one with a budget finish sans stand as well. I wanted to see what James thinks is a partial polish, lol. Either way, I have all the tools I need to complete the mirror finish.

I should be getting it early next week. I'll post photos.

My budget finish WR2 arrived yesterday, and I have to say I'm impressed.  I picked up the dual comb version this time (1.05mm SB and 1.15mm OC). Wizamet blade is fantastic in the WR2.

In photos it looks just as good as the mirror.  Looking at it with the naked eye, it looks excellent.  Without a doubt it's a high-end razor.  The design, fit, shave are all incredible and in my opinion worth the $300USD price tag.  I notice no drag or impact on the smoothness of the shave.

The razor in hand is a different story.  If you're used to holding a mirror polish WRH7, let's say, you'll know that it feels so smooth it's like liquid metal.  The feeling of luxury is unmistakable.  It's unlike any other razor I've ever held.  The budget finish is the same WR2, impressive and beautiful, but it does not have that liquid feel.  It's the difference between a car that's been washed with care and a car that's been thoroughly detailed.

I know what everyone wants, pictures!  A few standard shots, plus some video where I held it to harsh indoor and outdoor light and slowly rotated the razor so you can see that the budget finish does have very fine scratches.  Bonus SOTD.  My sincerest apologies for the condition of my fingers, I work a lot with my hands.

Video link is looking weird in the preview of this post.  So if that video link doesn't work, just copy paste this and maybe that'll work: https://imgur.com/a/fSIliDW

EDIT: For me the videos aren't working, so unless someone can tell me how to upload a vid, just go to imgur and add /a/fSIliDW to the url. Formatting keeps getting messed up when I paste the actual url. Sorry it's not working.

Wolfman WR2-SB 1.45mm (the first) mirror polished
WRH7XL Hollow option
DG B8 Jefferson Corona
GD Preshave
GD Sandalwood Nobile
GD Post Serum
Gillette Silver Blue

Lots of new stuff today. First use of razor, soap, and brush.  The 145 in mirrored SS is the first of many, I hope.  I know one is in process now from the last drop.  The 145 did not disappoint. Very close cut and surprisingly smooth.  The head does indeed maintain it's buttery smoothness without much increase in blade feel.  To the masochists, with poor technique and no life, pound that F5 key feverishly and crank the gaps up.  If James will build you a 1.55mm...get it.  The head can handle it.  If the 1.45mm is the highest he will go, grab it.

I'll have to admit, James is probably right, SS is the better medium to experiment with due to it's glide.  I still want one in Ti.

The hollow handle is going to get moved to the lighter WR1 head.  The WR2 gets a little head heavy, to me.  It's easy to deal with but worth noting.

That ‘Budget’ Polish looks even nicer than I thought it would, Outstanding! Great description of the Mirror vs Budget finishes. I can’t stop looking at the pics, there is nothing ‘Budget’ looking about it, very nice!

matt is always more forgiving than mirror...I have a feeling 'basic' matt will look even better.
