Im sorry Andrew

I'm all done with all this BS. Other members don't need to be exposed to this drama.

I will never respond to another post of James and hopefully he can do the same.

Hopefully this thread can get back on topic and move on.

In the sprit of helping this thread move along, is the 1.05 noticeably more efficient than the .95? Is there much or any sacrifice in smoothness?

While I will defer to the guys that have tried both, I lack 105 experience, I think the answer is Yes, it's noticable, so is blade feel. The 95 has little blade feel but it cuts very well. I'll get a 105 at some point but it will get about as much use as a 145 in my den. Until I prove otherwise with some 105 time, the 115Ti is the best WR2. For me. That's desert island only one kit.

I don't think there would be a lot of difference in smoothness. The WR2 does a good job maintaining a smooth cut/face feel.

I'm only talking SB too.

Just some advice from an outside perspective, but if you are on the fence between two gaps, go for the more aggressive one. People seem to want to trade up.

Personally I'm happy I was fortunate enough to grab a .95; even though I like aggressive razors most of the time I actually find the .95 to be perfectly adequate with the right technique.

1.15, 1.25 (WR2)

0.80, 0.86 (WR1)

Based on my own experience and reading up, any of these four gaps should
make most guys happy.

My personal criteria is that if Im shelling out this much for a razor, it has to
be able report for duty everyday. I don't think Ive ever gone more than 2 days
without a shave.

After my 1.15, I was planning to get a WR1 as I like the characteristics and profile
of that head. Yesterday, I went conservative and did a WR1 DC: 0.86SB / 0.80 OC

The 86 will give me an ever so slight step up in efficiency from the 1.15
The 80 OC will be good for the neck area...Ive found OCs result in a tug-free
shave on that sensitive area.

Never figured I'd be DC guy but the idea of two razors in one appealed to
the cheap Charlie in me hehehe..

Once I see which head design I like more, I'll go from there. But for now, Im glad the madness
is over for me....for a very long time.

If I am correct, you have had a WTB /WTTfor a WR2 and offered some pretty awesome gear in trade.

If that's you, I'm stoked you got to order your own!

In any case, it will be interesting to hear your thoughts on the razor, but especially the hollow 7. In particular how a hollow 7 balances with the heavier WR2 head.

When I first started playing with these heads, I bought DC heads even though Im a SB guy. I just had to try the OC sides to satisfy my curiosity.

There is a perceived uneven blade wear thing i have in my head I can't get past. It may be totally unfounded.

However, if you like them, I think you probably picked the best combo in gaps.

80OC is the only open comb head I have. It's a fantastic daily driver, very comfy. And of course, the 86SB adds some extra efficiency while keeping similar face feel of the 80OC.

I'd not even considered that combo but it sounds like a great combo.

Well done Mr. T.

I have arrived 'late to the party', meaning this thread, and starting from the OP read every post. Somewhere in that melange someone who seems to know what he is talking about compared the shave characteristics of WR-1 gaps to those of the WR-2. I have the WR-1 in .61 OC & SB, the .74 in DC, and the .86 in OC. I prefer the larger gaps, but find I get great shaves from either of the .61s.

So what I'm not getting is how a WR-2 @ .95 can be 'mild', with little blade feel, and people are going all the way up to 1.25 ? I'm assuming a comparable feel between the WR-1 and WR-2. I suppose the difference stems from the geometry of the head ?

I don't know if I'll ever get lucky enough to score a WR-2 directly from James. All of my Wolfman acquisitions have been from ebay. I did get a Guerrilla SB direct, and it is, as y'all know, an effective if mild shaver. I suppose if I was going to choose I'd for for a 1.15 as a compromise.

Anyhow, keep the thread going, best Wolfman thread I've come across on any forum.

Hahaha, yes you are correct. I have ad in WTB section, but I am still looking for another WM (1.35 Ti) razor ...

I had on loan WR2 head from one great member here and I was really impressed ... Due to I put to WTB section that ad ... This is (WR2 SB 1.25) an excellent razor, one of best if not best what I tried ... I owned also WR2 SB .95, but this was too mild to my tastes.

I tried that WR2 with standart 90mm WRH7 (72g), WRH2 (94g) and UFO Titan Fine L (63g) and found, I am more satisfied with lighter handle. Hollow WRH7 has 40g, so we will see.
