My first puck worked wonderfully. Never needed to “bloom”, exclusively use a boar brush, no satanic rituals…it just worked flawlessly. Tommy and I had some discussions awhile back about MWF. I gave it all sorts of praise and encouraged him to use it for a week. My first puck was already kicked, so a refill was ordered. My experience with this puck mirrors his. On top of that, this puck causes my skin to have a burning sensation. There was also about a ten page discussion about these issues over at B&B (I think?). Many others reported getting dodgy pucks made somewhere in 2020. What gathered my interest the most is some people emailed Mitchell’s to ask about a possible formula change or a possible bad batch. Radio silence from Mitchell’s.

The skin burning reaction is why cannot use MWF. It lights up like no other soap encountered followed by Tallow & Steel

That’s what baffles me. The first puck, zero stinging. Always left my face feeling like a million bucks. I can’t say it’s a sensitively to lanolin either, since many soaps I use contain it.

I plan on keeping the crock, either to put another soap in, or maybe - should I have a brain fart - try another puck of The Fat. I’m guessing once I dig the puck out, it’s going to be a mushy broken up mess. On top of that, I wouldn’t want to give this particular soap to an enemy.
. Scraper, we are on the same page brother. Satanic rituals made me spit up  my coffee because it is accurate. I kind of have to jump through hoops to get a lather. Hesitant to get it out because of the effort. Sad because it is very slick. Foamy for me.

Reading through through all the hoopla about dodgy pucks on another forum is the only reason I dug it back out for one more try. All that experiment did was confirm that, yes, you and I both got dodgy pucks. Something happened, and Mitchell’s ain’t talkin’. Today’s lather was exactly as you described…slick but foamy. Almost like a dry foam appearance. Whether MWF gets another shot someday remains to be seen. There are so many awesome soap makers out there, rolling the dice on another Fat seems kinda silly. Hopefully, whatever happened to that/those batch(es) are behind them, because Mitchell’s really does make some outstanding products.

DanLaw's words about the Blackland Vector Ti were truly inspiring, and they motivated me to give mine another try. I followed his advice and focused on the angle, keeping the handle away from my face as if I were using a Gem or EverReady razor. This allowed me to glide the cap smoothly across the skin without catching. I got a close shave with little or no damage done. I also experimented with a new blade, the Kai Captain, after previously trying Feather Pros and Kai Captain Pinks. The Pros were too aggressive, and the Pinks were too mild, but so far the Kai Captains seem to be just about right.
