I plan on keeping the crock, either to put another soap in, or maybe - should I have a brain fart - try another puck of The Fat. I’m guessing once I dig the puck out, it’s going to be a mushy broken up mess. On top of that, I wouldn’t want to give this particular soap to an enemy.
Over on TSR The Shaving Room I believe there was talk about some bad batches. Bummer

Before giving up would try picking it out, drying thoroughly, grating it all, then press back in the tub. If being totally fair try using distilled water. Municipal water varies in chemical components that seem to particularly impact Mitchells.
My first puck worked wonderfully. Never needed to “bloom”, exclusively use a boar brush, no satanic rituals…it just worked flawlessly. Tommy and I had some discussions awhile back about MWF. I gave it all sorts of praise and encouraged him to use it for a week. My first puck was already kicked, so a refill was ordered. My experience with this puck mirrors his. On top of that, this puck causes my skin to have a burning sensation. There was also about a ten page discussion about these issues over at B&B (I think?). Many others reported getting dodgy pucks made somewhere in 2020. What gathered my interest the most is some people emailed Mitchell’s to ask about a possible formula change or a possible bad batch. Radio silence from Mitchell’s.
