Last July I determined that, for me, the size of the perfect rotation was three soaps: one wood, one floral, one fougère. Luckily, my present stash of Wholly Kaw covers those bases very well. So I’ve moved all my other brands into deep storage in order to focus on just these three: La Fougère Parfaite, King of Oud, and today’s Chypre Rose Concerto. I hear you saying, “But Bouki, what about a nice tart citrus?” Well, fact is, most of these soaps start off with a whiff of bergamot, lemon, or lime, so I’m not missing out on that. Will other soaps creep in to the rotation? You bet! From time to time, just like you, I need a shot of bay rum or vetiver. But I’m loving Wholly Kaw’s skin care so much, I may just stick with this short rotation for a spell.

Carpathia is an exciting scent. It takes me to a damp forest with a sweet floral scent in the air Not a bad one and of course, the SW base is excellent as always.

Southern Witchcrafts makes a great shave soap. (I don't like megaphoning that it's vegan, because you'd never know, and I think a lot of us (me included) unfairly take a point off for that in our minds. It's excellent compared to the best of the best. Easy shave, easy lather, and skin is sooo soft and pampered afterwards.) Of course, as many noted, one does need to explore to find the right scent, they are frequently unusual. Maggard's has samples thankfully.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I was under the impression it was more difficult to make a vegan soap that has the characteristics of a tallow base.  If that's true, there should points added when there is a vegan base as good as Southern Witchcrafts.  I understand what you're saying though...tallow is a more popular base

Wow, that label is something as I am sure it quotes some of the negative reactions that Charkalis has gotten.  In fact, I have seen a few of them here on this forum.  I have never agreed with any of it.  I think he makes a high quality product and I enjoy the branding.  Unfortunately, his branding makes him a target and appears to engender a negative response from the overly sensitive.

Yes, that was Peter Charkalis' point. On his website where this is sold (to the "Club" members only, I believe), he writes that "The label is our response to the vocal few who love to hate us on a particular platform. Little do they know they have helped our growth immeasurably with the free advertisement. Thank you!!!!"  The label has quotes from postings (and I'm fairly sure that he doesn't mean this platform.). Otherwise, on his website he says how A&E refuses to be like everyone else and is "untraditionally traditional," and the like.  But while I find most of the recent soap offerings artwork to be over-the-top and deliberately edgy to evoke some kind of "cool" ethos, he does make darned good soap even if I don't like some of his scents (and there's been a flood of different offerings).  "The Recipe," however, is unscented and really does give a great shave.

I couldn't care less about the "sexist" labels. We could say the same thing about 95% of Corporate America's commercials in everyone's face on TV (being "feminist" (the other sexist) garbage). The clueless idiot, weak guy and his genius, logical, strong wife in every ad.
What bothers most people is their scents.
Personally, I've owned OVER THIRTY of their soaps because I love their base... hoping to find a few scents that smell natural/high quality... If I sold all the scents I don't like (and I'm in process now), I'd have ONE left. And even that one isn't great, it's just not a fragrance oil bomb.
Bases are top tier... Scents are not.
Why he'd make a soap label acknowledging that instead of correcting it is beyond me.
Just my observations... Not picking a fight. I everyone's posts.

Certainly could be (seems to be) true, and the reason most tallow soaps are better than vegan (even from the same maker).

I don't know for sure that I would say overall, "tallow is more popular". Maybe here on DFS. I've never tried SW side by side with ours so I can't speak to that.
I'd like to think we have pretty good bases, and a lot of folks have thought our veggie base is actually tallow. We don't scream it out on our labeling in either case.
