Just Here for the Shaves

Oh, and the aftershave is light scented as is the soap so I’m free to use the scent of my choice.

I’m really liking La Fougère Parfaite aftershave toner. It smells like Brut, but it’s Brut done with quality ingredients, so everything is smooth and tidy. The scent doesn’t last long, but while it’s around, it’s very nice. And the toner itself is a smorgasbord of excellent skin foods: organic aloe leaf juice, sodium hyaluronate crosspolymer, glycerin, propanediol, croton lechleri resin powder, white willow bark extract, edelweiss extract, d-panthenol.

Head Shave

Razor: Executive Fatboy
Blade: Astra SP
Brush: Grizzly Bay "Heavy Metal" 26mm
Soap: Southern Witchcraft Carpathia
Splash: Tabac

Carpathia is an exciting scent. It takes me to a damp forest with a sweet floral scent in the air Not a bad one and of course, the SW base is excellent as always. This was my first time using the tabac aftershave and It's ok not as strong as I was hoping.

I would give this shave a 7 out of 10.

Notes: Evergreen forest, musk, herbs, rose, coffee, black tea

Southern Witchcrafts makes a great shave soap. (I don't like megaphoning that it's vegan, because you'd never know, and I think a lot of us (me included) unfairly take a point off for that in our minds. It's excellent compared to the best of the best. Easy shave, easy lather, and skin is sooo soft and pampered afterwards.) Of course, as many noted, one does need to explore to find the right scent, they are frequently unusual. Maggard's has samples thankfully.

Declaration Grooming Albizia - Milksteak

A high-quality citrus-floral puck layered with a nice green bitter accord. DG's website describes it aptly as a green spring day. These descriptions or spring-like pucks almost always disappoint, however this one is not synthetic, not candle shop reminiscent. It has reminded me of a high end fragrance that escapes my nose-brain link. I will need a few more lathers, but will get their on identifying what fragrance memory it is tickling. This one is a high quality freshie, and that milksteak base lathers in the tip top tier.
