Good but nothing to write home about. I like the label artwork though, it looks like fun. What does that one smell like Adrian? I have his FERN Soap, it’s the most unique FOUGÈRE I’ve ever schmelt. When friends or Family smell this one eyes light up. I was VERY LUCKY to score mine from jshaves2554 And performance….wow. I’m a bowl latherer mostly so I can whip Mayo pretty fast. I want a couple more of his products. Fern is a very special product, try it if you get the chance!
With due regard to the disclaimer above, here comes my attempt to describe the fragrance. Svandavapori scent profile perfectly matched my taste. Based on scent "blueprints" alone, it seemed to be a totally safe no-brainer buy. Ozonic, marine heading the scent to a heart of green florals combined with citrusy bits, all layed on a foundation of amber, cedar and juniper. I enjoy marine notes, I just love citrus. What's not to like? So I dived head first into a blind date with a Svandavapori combo (soap and aftershave). Unfortunately it just wasn't love at first sight. What I got was a dull fragrance that lacked the sharpness, briskness and sparklingness of citrus and also missed the clean and serenic nature of ozonic and marine notes. Pleasant but mediocre. Hope I'm not being to harsh on this fragrance. We all know scent is an extremely subjective matter.
Performance was solid, as with many other top tier soaps available.
For me, the key take away from this is a self-descovery i.e. my shaving journey is (still) mainly driven by scent and to a lesser extent by performance. Does this mean I'm not at shaving maturity yet?
PS: thanks for the tip, I'll give Fern a try if I manage to get a sample from my fellow local wetshavers (we've recently done a group buy from Joserra)
