I just read that Barrister & Mann will be replacing all their myriad soap bases with Omnibus, their latest, greatest, and according to Will, their final base. Of course I’ll try it, but to be honest, they could have stopped with the white label recipe and I would have always been a happy camper. This Reserve base isn’t bad either. It wears like iron and holds its scent well. I’m five shaves into this puck of Fern, and I’m just barely starting to scratch the surface. Good stuff.

This is the only Wholly Kaw soap I own.  Love the performance but I just don’t get on with their scents.  Spice Vitae is a case in point.  When I could smell, I’d get a pretty strong coffee note which I very much like but that is sitting under a pretty strong disinfectant scent that is not so wonderful. Reading the scent list I would expect to really like the scent but how I pick up industrial cleaner from benzoin, vanilla, pink pepper, cardamom, honey, sandalwood, patchouli, oud, (and coffee), is way above my pay grade.  At any rate I’ll use this puck up because as stated before, coffee, and the “cleaner” reminds me of flushing the dairy barn out as a kid.  Sadly, I’ll not likely have another Wholly Kaw ever.  Sure is a great soap though.

Recently I’ve heard a couple people say they can always smell the base in wholly KAW soaps.  I’m not sure what I’m looking for as I have 4 and they all smell very different and unique.  Has anyone else heard this?  The performance makes them one of my favs.  King of Bourbon and Chypre Rose are just wow

What does that one smell like Adrian? I have his FERN Soap, it’s the most unique FOUGÈRE I’ve ever schmelt.  When friends or Family smell this one eyes light up.  I was VERY LUCKY to score mine from jshaves2554 And performance….wow.  I’m a bowl latherer mostly so I can whip Mayo pretty fast.  I want a couple more of his products.  Fern is a very special product, try it if you get the chance!
