Ninfeo di Egeria v. (Wickham Soap Co.) fig garden
Shave 8 ・ 81% left

Figs aren’t all that’s growing in this garden. I smell plenty of citrus too. Ninfeo di Egeria is a nice interpretation of a lush Mediterranean garden. Truth be told, though, this is about the only time of year I enjoy fruity garden smells. Most of the time I find peach, cherry, plum, and most other fruits too sweet for a shaving cream. Luckily, Wickham was clever enough to spritz their ripe fig with some bitter orange. Takes the edge off the fruity gooeyness and gives the fragrance brightness and back bone.

In the past I had some pretty lousy shaves with this soap. Seems like I wasn’t getting enough cushion, and that left my skin hot and splotchy. Turns out there was nothing wrong with the soap. It was my overtender skin that was the source of the problem. Today the ice pack came to my rescue again. Five minutes with that draped across my face before I shaved and I was good for three passes, something I haven’t attempted in months. Not a single nick, divot, weeper, or hot spot. Nothing but a slick and gentle glide.

With all the chatter about the new Tabac formulation I just couldn’t go without busting it out for a whirl.  Sometimes I forget how much I like this soap and I’m always surprised how the lathering is so similar it is to Sir Henrys offerings.  The puck I’m working on is probably two years old but still offers  a bold, masculine scent.  I followed it up with Tabac cologne which is quite more floral but settles right down very quickly.  If I could only have A few scents, tabac would likely make the cut.  When I first got back into traditional shaving, Tabac was everywhere and it was discussed how polarizing it is.  I’ve wondered why it is I like Tabac so much and have come to the conclusion that it’s because I don’t own a purse!  (It’s a joke, but I really don’t own a purse.)
