You're not getting off that easy, my friend Smile
How did it go compared to the tallow?

Good question...but one I can't answer right now Smile   I checked my spreadsheet and it's been nearly a year since I last used Tabac.  I'll find my tallow-puck and use it today or tomorrow.  Overall, the non-tallow really wasn't that bad.  It provided more than enough cushion and slickness to get the job done.

Any difference in scent?

No difference in the scent...it is still that wonderful Tabac goodness!  But I did feel like the scent strength was slightly less.  Not by a big amount.  It is still a strong scent-strength, it just seems a little less.  Maybe that's attributed to my poor memory Smile

I ordered this soap from Pasteur’s, thinking it was a new fragrance in the Fitjar Islands line up. Turns out East Indies is an ancient soap, seven years old at least (that explains the ridiculously low price). I have a feeling this soap dates from the early days of Fitjar Soaps, the company that pre-dated Fitjar Islands. The puck was hand wrapped in cling film, and over the years its oils had seeped into the packaging. When I first opened it, I nearly pitched it. It looked a mess. But I figured it deserved at least one shot. So I potted it in a new tub, took a brush to it, and proceeded to be very pleasantly surprised. No problems with this rich lather at all, and the mild spicy scent was delicious. Long live Fitjar!

So I jumped on Pasteurs to see if they had another puck and….nope.  Did see they now carry Dom’s Sir Henrys though.

I did notice a difference in the amount of water the tallow could take vs the non-tallow.  Plus, it seems like it was a little slicker.  Again, I don't have any complaints about the non-tallow version but after using each two days in a row, I would prefer to have the tallow-based

It’s a revelation of ridiculousness when a guy has so much stuff that he stumbles across a soap he forgot he had.  CRSW Schapenmelk is that soap.  I  got it because I like harder pucks and although CRSW has not really suited me very well (reaction to something they use is several soaps) I wanted one that worked.  The scent is reminiscent Mitchell’s Wool Fat and that is pleasant.  It lathers well.  It looks right on my cheeks, but it just doesn’t offer protection like most other soaps I keep around so although I know I’m the odd one I guess CRSW is a maker I will have to let others enjoy.  This soap is now a shower bar.

Art of Shaving Rose Absolute shaving cream (vintage) + Rose Trilogy absolute/hydrosol. Although still present, the cream's scent has faded quite a bit, and it was really livened up a lot by a few drops of the mixed-rose hydrosol.
