Great Mother of Meat!  What a wonderful shave today.  As you all know by now I sorta dig Vetiver.  Super refined and accompanied by other scents all in tuxedos or in dreadlocks and a breachclout.  I love them all.  I was in Mini Moustachery of Provo UT last night because my son had a van to look at to replace his totaled and wrecked van when a high schooler decided to T-bone my daughter-in-law and a load of grand babies when he ran the 4 way stop sign.  Everyone is ok but his big family won’t fit in his Honda Pilot.  Well, he bought the van and we headed to the shave shop because they sell his Teton Shaves brushes.  Well, they sold me a bunch of stuff too!  Picked up Barrister and Mann’s Nocturne because I like smoke and this one is decidedly smoky.  Stirling Orange Chill because I like menthol but not the glacial menthol of lemon chill.  A bottle of Gin and Tonic aftershave by Stirling which I’m wearing today and is an awesome juniper berry blast.  And finally a tub of Port au Prince which I’ve wanted to mess with for a long time.  This isn’t a cleaned up Vetiver like Fines Green or Fresh Vetiver nor is it the smoky swamp fire of Salters French Vetiver all of which I love.  This is somewhere in the middle.  A big snootful of Haitian Vetiver that has a pretty good smoke note but a big dose of root that would/could put it in the Salters category.  Rod adds a dose of lemon grass to lighten the whole affair and ends up on the vetiver middle ground.  The sheep tallow base is most certainly awesome.  So creamy and slick!  This scratches my Vetiver itch handily.

Interesting...I've not seen this soap before.  What's the lather like?

It lathers really fast. It is new to me, only on third use this week.  But I find it slick, creamy, and it leaves my face feeling pretty darn good. I dislike soaps that dry my face out, but that doesn't really happen much now, as so many shave soaps have so many "goodies" added! This soap is a hard soap, and the maker states this on the product page [NOTE: he only does unscented!]:

A few quick swirls with a shaving brush produces a thick, luxurious shaving lather for a premium shaving experience. Moisturizing and conditioning, this rich lather protects the skin, and softens the beard. Its amazing slickness, and outstanding razor glide, provide for an extremely close, yet comfortable, shave. Although formulated for ultra-sensitive skin, it’s perfect for any skin type.

It’s vegetable-based, fragrance and perfume free! Absolutely no irritating additives nor artificial colours.

Hand-crafted in small batches, our artisanal shaving soap ages for a minimum of six months be-fore we allow it to be sold. This aging process results in a hard, dense shaving soap that lasts an incredibly long period of time, yet is child’s play to whip up into a lather of supreme luxury.

PROUDLY MADE IN CANADA

I am in agreement so far, but am still deciding on whether it is any better than Ethos, Zingari Man, House of Mammoth, Mystic Water, Mike's Natural, and Shannon's Soaps. I will say it is at least as good as the above makers. Mystic Water is my benchmark for post-shave, and I will need to shave with it soon to compare. But as I only use unscented soaps, this one seemed like a good bet! It is pricey, although I rationalized the price  by noting 175g and filled to the top, no empty space!
