Sandalwood Cream v. (D.R. Harris) spiced sandal
I smeared a little of this cream on the back of my hand and took a sniff. What I smelled was pumpkin pie. Well, not the pie exactly. What I smelled was the spice that goes into the pie: cinnamon, cloves, allspice, and most of all, nutmeg. I liked it a lot. It brought back memories of some of the sandalwood soaps I remember from the 70s and 80s – a little loud, plenty dark, and quite heady. Apart from the spice, there’s a good dose of Australian sandalwood. On its own this species of sandal has a strong anise note that pairs well with the other spicy bits in the shaving cream. And since these D.R. Harris creams finish lean, I gave myself a dot of Aesop’s post-shave lotion. It's a nice blend of neroli and Australian sandal.
