I really wish I had started off my double-edged shaving adventure with a great soap like Original. If there’s one mistake I made early on, it was trying to shave on the cheap. I bought tiny brushes, tinny razors, and lackluster soaps. The result was a mediocre shave. Now I’ve learned the importance of investing in a good soap, and it’s made all the difference. My other gear is still on the cheap side, but when it comes to soap, I like reaching for one of the best.
____________
Martin de Candre: Original 50g (23 grams left) ・ Maggard V3 ・ Astra Superior Platinum ・ Simpson Commodore X1 ・ Soap Hoard: 11,126 g ・ Used this year: 108 g

Strange, isn't it, how many odd things you do when you're bored at home for twelve months.(03-09-2021, 05:10 AM)Bouki Wrote: Original v. All this data was collected by digging a soap out of its container and then weighing the empty tub. All weights are in grams. It's fairly accurate, but I admit I used a cheapo digital kitchen scale. You might get slightly different results with a better scale. The weight of the Martin de Candre 200 g plastic jar is just an estimate; I didn't want to dig out all that soap and then have to repack it. This list doesn't cover all my containers, but it does show the most common ones in my collection.
I’ve been shaving my face for four and a half decades, mostly daily. My motivation was to 1)look good for the ladies, 2)not look like the guys who grew neards (near beard), 3)because beards were not considered professional until now. Now that beards are acceptable, My belly in conjunction with my white whiskers has me looking more like Santa than Selleck so I’ll remain clean shaven. Most of those years saw shaving as a chore but the last decade has been so much fun. As stated before, I have a fondness for hard pucks and I find the enjoyment culminate with a brush and a puck. Great shave today with the Mitchell’s and my Teton Shaves boar. I do enjoy the scent of Mitchell’s very much and the coffret is so cool.
