It seems to me that in our search for optimal post shave the makers have been making it harder and harder to lather soaps in my granitic water.  Old school soaps like Tabac, Mitchell’s, Harris give me zero problems, or tricks to learn, to provide a killer lather.  New soaps like Sir Henrys are easy to lather.   Declaration Grooming Milksteak is right at the edge of workable but I can do it and it provides a good shave but I must palm lather to get it right.  Worth it?  Yes, I think so but I sure found previous recipes to be more friendly.

XPEC Unscented shaving cream (v.1) + a few drops Floris Ormonde. The Ormonde is too heavy and sweet for me, like my granny's parlor, but the lather otherwise was great.

I really wish I had started off my double-edged shaving adventure with a great soap like Original. If there’s one mistake I made early on, it was trying to shave on the cheap. I bought tiny brushes, tinny razors, and lackluster soaps. The result was a mediocre shave. Now I’ve learned the importance of investing in a good soap, and it’s made all the difference. My other gear is still on the cheap side, but when it comes to soap, I like reaching for one of the best.

AMEN, especially spoken by you!
I would rather have 10 amazing soaps/croaps/creams than 30 run of the mill garbage concoctions

What did you think? I’ve been waiting for this a LONG time.  For “ME” it’s a very lite scent, NOT to be confused with Ben’s “lite scent” line....which has got to be virtually unscented

Original v. (Martin de Candre) lavender rosemary

A few years ago, Matsilainen gave me some of the sanest shaving advice I’ve ever heard. I can’t remember his exact words now, but the gist of his message was this: “If there’s no lather on your face, don’t shave it.” This seems so obvious, but I’ve ignored it, much to my chagrin, so many times. I think I can get away with some quick touching up without the benefit of lather. For me, the results of this poor technique are nearly always the same: a nick or a welt and the accompanying shame. This happens more often when I use the same soap and same kit day after day. I put my shave on autopilot, and that leads to mistakes. The worst part is at the end of the shave I wash half a brush load of unused lather down the drain. Here’s to making good use of all that good lather all the time.

LOS JABONES DE JOSERRA / Spanish Fern (sample)

Thank You jshaves2554 this scent is unlike anything I’ve ever smelt, schmelt, whiffed.... I’m not sure how to describe it yet... can we send a sample to Bouki I’m sure he has the words!
ExtraProtein, I wouldn't mind getting a snout full of this! Who is Joserra, and are samples available?
He’s in Spain, I’m working on getting some different flavours now.  When I do I’d love to send some your way!
