I had inexplicably rough shave this morning. It wasn’t the fault of the lather, though. That came out its usual thick, glossy self. I hardly felt the blade. But once I was done, I had some irritation that lasted for hours. I can only attribute it to Kabinett’s rose fragrance, which is mild, but still pungent enough to burn skin like mine that’s grown sensitive to products of the rosaceae family. I’ve given away all my apple, pear, and plum soaps, and I shy away from fragrances with cherry or strawberry in them. They’re all part of the same botanical family as the rose, and they all give me a toasting. But I can’t part with my rose soaps. I’ll just have to remember to give myself a good rinsing after each shave.

Just so you know since your having sensitivity issues there is no such thing as organic or natural fragrance oils of Pear, Strawberry, Plum, Cherry. They would have to be synthetic fragrance oils. Now Rose can be natural as in Rose absolute, Rose Hydrosol and Rose water. Rose absolute is extremely expensive and it would drive the price of a jar of soap up to MDC or Pannacrema prices. So the Rose may also be synthetic as well but you'd have to check that out. It's easy just make a little Rose water. Google it. It's very easy to make. This way you'll know for sure if your sensitive to real Rose scent.
Excellent suggestions, Dragonsbeard ! Thanks very much for your reply. Making rose water sounds interesting. I'll see if the neighbor's bush is still blooming and then we'll know if that's what's putting a blush on my cheeks. Sounds likely, though, that it will be some aromachemical in the synthetic fragrance. Kabinett smells pretty synthetic, so I suspect something synthetic is what's doing me in. That also explains why my soaps made with real rose oil don't seem to bother me all.
If you find it available, go for the old AoS Rose Absolute cream (discontinued). Best real rose scent I've come across (by far, nothing else even comes close) and amazing performance (even better than their current offerings, which are top performing creams still).

I'm sure they had to discontinue bc it was too expensive to continue producing at large volumes.

If you see it, don't hesitate. You could always offload it if it comes to that... but seriously I don't think it would.

I'll probably stick to MW for next week as I try out the START razor during the pass-around.  Adirondack Jack just felt like the "right" Thanksgiving scent from MW

Marshlands t. (L&L Grooming) bergamot, vetiver, oakmoss

Along with the obvious vetiver, there’s a dusting of spice in Marshlands that reminds me of nothing more than a slice of warm banana bread. What am I picking up? Cinnamon? Nutmeg? Either way it’s a nice companion to the rooty vetiver, and it all goes quite well with turkey, potatoes, and pumpkin pie.
