Valley of Ashes is fantastic scent - kind of a sweet smokey vibe to it.  Unfortunately, my wife HATES smoke-related scents.  And normally, I don't use smoke-scents when she's around.  But today, she is home.  Long story short, I'm in the doghouse anyway so why not enjoy one of my favorite scents  Big Grin

I've been thinking of picking up a smokey scented soap. Any idea how this compares to others. Would this be your choice of the options out there (eg. Stirling Texas on Fire, Shannon's LIT, etc.)?

Thanks.

I had inexplicably rough shave this morning. It wasn’t the fault of the lather, though. That came out its usual thick, glossy self. I hardly felt the blade. But once I was done, I had some irritation that lasted for hours. I can only attribute it to Kabinett’s rose fragrance, which is mild, but still pungent enough to burn skin like mine that’s grown sensitive to products of the rosaceae family. I’ve given away all my apple, pear, and plum soaps, and I shy away from fragrances with cherry or strawberry in them. They’re all part of the same botanical family as the rose, and they all give me a toasting. But I can’t part with my rose soaps. I’ll just have to remember to give myself a good rinsing after each shave.

Just so you know since your having sensitivity issues there is no such thing as organic or natural fragrance oils of Pear, Strawberry, Plum, Cherry. They would have to be synthetic fragrance oils. Now Rose can be natural as in Rose absolute, Rose Hydrosol and Rose water. Rose absolute is extremely expensive and it would drive the price of a jar of soap up to MDC or Pannacrema prices. So the Rose may also be synthetic as well but you'd have to check that out. It's easy just make a little Rose water. Google it. It's very easy to make. This way you'll know for sure if your sensitive to real Rose scent.
Excellent suggestions, Dragonsbeard ! Thanks very much for your reply. Making rose water sounds interesting. I'll see if the neighbor's bush is still blooming and then we'll know if that's what's putting a blush on my cheeks. Sounds likely, though, that it will be some aromachemical in the synthetic fragrance. Kabinett smells pretty synthetic, so I suspect something synthetic is what's doing me in. That also explains why my soaps made with real rose oil don't seem to bother me all.

That vintage puck of Polmolive sure is ugly but it makes good lather.  I don't know how old it is but old enough that any scent at all is long gone.  How is that for stability?  Today provided a big old mount of creamy good lather with surprisingly good finish.  And man!  That brush is awesomeness.
