This is sold in 3 ounce tubs (poured) or a tin containing a very soft puck... I have the tin version.
This soft tallow (locally sourced?) soap is described as a mix of Bay, Leather, and Tobacco. I can pick out the first two, but not tobacco. I do wonder if the tobacco is actually tobacco flower? Nonetheless, it is a great combination. Its a light scent, but it does last a bit on the face, IMO, post shave. It's also an exhilarating scent. The mix of bay with leather coupled with being on the lighter side) gives me the feeling of a crisp clean breeze. Id almost expect some level of mint menthol... but I don't believe any actually exist in this soap.
As is typical with a lot of soft soaps, it lathers pretty easily. The soap goes on well, and the lather seems to keep its form quite well on the face. It is fairly slick and competent. Upon rinsing I feel the post shave is good, with a fairly moist and soft skin feel.
Juniper t. (Cold River Soap Works) juniper & vetiver
A sharp, biting juniper nestled into a tuft of premium vetiver make this scent one to remember. The lather, alas, wasn’t quite as impressive. Though I laid into the puck with my biggest brush and loaded until eternity, the suds started to fall apart by the second pass. Still, I got a great shave, and the Shea butter gave a superb finish. I’ll have to try this one next time with a synthetic brush. They seem to work up a fine lasting lather from these Cold River soaps.
