Clay Face
Honolulu, Hawaii
Bay Rum t. (Chiseled Face Groomatorium) bay, rum, lime, pepper, ginger, clove, cinnamon, vanilla

The puck smells bland, but add a few drops of water and the scent really blooms. Both rich and bright, it could suit any season. Chiseled Face doesn't skimp on their bay oil. Fresh, tart, spicy, and abundant, it's never overwhelmed by the other notes. Lime and ginger keep it clean while the spices add warmth and depth (the black pepper smells like it's just come from the grinder). The only thing I could ask for, from Chiseled Face and all bay rummers, is a drop of smoke in the rum accord. I want to smell the bitter aroma of molasses cooked over wood fires, or of dark rum aged in heavily charred oak barrels.

Today was Wet Shaving Products Ol' Kentucky. Of the 5 soaps I have from WSP this one is my favorite (and I really like them all). Ol' Kentucky is not dark by any means but I would say it's "warm". Top notes of bourbon followed by oak, sandalwood, and patchouli. And if you think my nose can pick all this apart you sir, are crazy. All I know is the blend is delicious and comforting. The bourbon is not boozy, the sandalwood and oak I think are the most prevalent. And I only know patchouli is in there because they told me. Scent strength is a bit more stout than its brethren at 8/10. Again, it fades during the shave but still plenty strong. Scent off the puck is pretty much what to expect upon lathering too. (All WSP I've used are like this). Scent does linger a bit post shave but not long. I'd say choose a bit heavier scent for that day and you are fine. Of note: post shaves for all the WSP this week have been awesome. I am a Shea butter whore though. Oh, and the razor is the Gillette Guard. Doing some experiments and no, it won't replace my regular fleet.
