Frankincense & Myrrh t. (Mystic Water) ★★★★★ floral resin

There are some flowers mixed in with the resins giving this soap an extra dose of sweetness and breadth. Does it smell like a head shop? Yes, like many of MW's soaps, this has a certain hippy vibe, but I find that comforting and nostalgic. What it's not like is church incense, which can be bitter and smoky. This fragrance is mild, sweet, and soothing, a nice gentle way to start a cool morning.

MW's performance improved greatly ever since I stopped trying to load my brush from the puck. Now I just scoop out a ball and smear it evenly around the bottom and sides of a lathering bowl. That way the suds are always rich and ample.

The soap really does hit the mark - especially if you describe your lathers as shaving creams. It is luxurious for sure. Heavy, dense, low profile, rich - the peaks lay down and it stays moist and gives a great post shave.

I understand the hype on this soap maker now [Image: b4dd46957a979fab8e77e1cbe8dffbdf.jpg]

Sunday's shave was another French offering, Provence Sante in Green Tea.  This is a veg based soap.  Lather off this hard puck is not as quick nor protective as Pre de Provence but neither is it a slouch.  It's slick enough but not the slickest.  It's protective enough but not the most protective.  It's adequate.  Scent is about 3/10 but holds during the shave.  It's got Shea butter I it and I suppose that helps with post shave feel.  My skin was a little tight after the shave but I really don't know,if that matters too much because I always put on some Shea post shave.  Scent is green tea plus some other things that I don't know.  Very pleasant scent that would pair well with Harris Windsor or Fine l'Orange Noir.  As stated this soap is not as protective for me as most of my others but the scent is so good I can overlook some shortcomings."s

Today's shave sees Tiki Bar's Fougere. I like fougere so and this one is a good'n. I get the lavender and I get the oak,is but there are other things going on. A sweetness that is not floral. I'm guessing Tonka bean but what do I know. I picked up this soap from Old Town Shaving last time I was by, never thinking it would really be the last time. Lather needs sufficient loading but rewards with slickness and glide. Scent strength is 6/10 and holds during shave but is all but gone after I rinse my face.
