Bufflehead - Elephant Walk
(I was lucky enough to be on-line when Maggard put these on sale the other day - it's my first Bufflehead and the scent is absolutely intoxicating! And the performance was one of the best I've ever had the pleasure to lather - really wish these were easier to get ahold of)

Hi, Lipripper! I've been on the mainland celebrating the holidays with family. I left the computer stuff in the islands. It was nice to take a break from glowing screens. But it's great to be back in the islands now and back on DFS.

Haslinger Honey.
This stuff is so good. It pairs well with SMN Aqua di Cuba.
Great value as well

Blu v. (Nuávia) spicy amber
Blu's dense pale yellow lather reminds me a lot of Tallow+Steel. It's slick, cushiony, and a pleasure to use. I gave myself an extra pass just because I couldn't bear seeing such splendid suds washed down the drain. But Blu also comes in at more than twice the price of most T+S soaps. I wish I could say that it gives twice the performance, but to be honest, these two top brands work just about the same.
So what do we get for Blu's dear price? Along with a simple ceramic vessel, we get a very complex scent. I count about 15 notes in the pyramid, everything from Moroccan artemisia to Egyptian jasmine to Indonesian patchouli. It's spicy and warm and very nice on a cool morning. The fragrance also harbors an unexpected herbal side note. At first I thought I was picking up a lot of oak moss, but after a cold slice of pizza for breakfast, I realized what I was smelling was actually oregano. That's peculiar but not unprecedented. Fans of Serge Luten's Amber Sultan or J P Gaultier's Le Male will feel right at home with Blu.
