Dark soap, rich brown lather, exquisite scent.

Victory Shaving- Rosie: This one is sandalwood and Rose, smells great and from an artisan that doesn't get the attention it deserves IMO, excellent performance.

The short version:
“Back in 2014, Wickham Soap Co. founder Darron stumbled upon an old shaving soap formula manufactured commercially in England in and around 1912. A naturally inquisitive chap, and excited to try something new, Darron thought it would be fun to recreate.”

A longer explanation of how the 1912 formula came to be is here:

I kind of wish he could have used the branding “1909,” as that was my grandfather’s birth year. But “1912” is easy for us wet shavers to remember, thanks to a certain famous razor model. Smile

Are there any specific tricks to this process that you wouldn’t mind sharing? I’m a two-pass shaver myself, and am just curious. (I also have so much soap that one-pass shaving would really make me feel like a hoarder…)

Matsilainen: Many,  many thanks for linking us to the explanation of the 1912 brand. Darron's fun facts were fascinating!

Today I again took only one pass at my face, and again the results rivaled any three-pass shave I've subjected my skin to. There are no tricks. My success lies in the sorry fact that I don't have much of a beard. My wife always teases me that I've got more types of soap than I have whiskers. I could probably dedicate a tub to each follicle. I use a lot of moisturizer at this time of year, too, and that seems to prolong a good shave better than an additional pass with the razor.

You are most welcome for the link, and it is quite an interesting read, indeed.

“A tub to each follicle” made me laugh! Interesting observation about the moisturizer. I wonder if it affects the skin around said follicles in a way that the makes the stubble stick out less… (I really think we should have a standby dermatologist onboard here on DFS.)

Next time I’m in a hurry, I’ll give the one-pass shave a try. Normally, I enjoy the shave too much to deliberately shorten it. Smile
