When I first got into wet-shaving, it was all about the vintage and what I found worked best for me was a Super Speed. Over the past few years, i have found what works best for me is a heavy weighted but mild razor. I still have the Super Speed and use it every now and then but my Rockwell 6S/Overlander get a lot more use because of the difference in weight.

But what I'm finding with using my vintage recently is there are some terrific razors in the vintage category & there are some terrific razors in the modern category. What we must also remember is there are some terrible razors in the vintage category & modern category, as well.

Name a terrible vintage razor.
Boar brushes, brass razors, and hard pucks ARE traditional wet shaving. Everything else is modern day fluff for the girly men.

What would you guys pick if you had to choose one razor for the next year of shaving.

Dave, thanks, it’s posts like this one that make me want to discuss with andrewjs18  how to create the ability to give a post two thumbs up!! One just isn’t enough sometimes.

But he broke the rules/didn't follow the instructions/didn't answer the question.

I will say, however, that the razor is just a handle to hold the blade, so choosing one is meaningless, it's more about how the razor looks and feels, or perhaps sentimental value.

Modern all the way. I have tried many vintage razors and the shaves just don't compare to what I get out of my favorite modern razors. There's only one vintage I've kept around and actually use from time to time and that's my GEM Pushbutton. I like the idea of vintage razors, but ultimately I'm more interested in actual performance and the modern razors I use and enjoy blow them all out of the water.

If all the vintage razors evaporated, I would use orange BIC disposables. They will outshave anything currently manufactured.

I see the Rockwell 6S still get a lot of love.

Still thinking about getting one.

The handle is the only thing that puts me off….

I have a mix of both but all of the razors I currently use are newly manufactured.
