Notes: Cedar, Cardamom, Cashmere, Evergreen, Oud, Spice, Cocoa Butter, Patchouli, Santal, Musk

Christmas Cabin includes some of the expected notes you'd expect to see in a Christmas scent, but like the other Cabin scents, the goal is not a literal Christmas scent and instead goes for vibe. It's warm, buttery and inviting thanks to cashmere and cocoa butter; slightly spicy under the union of cardamom, allspice, nutmeg and cinnamon; all wrapped together under a complex base of cedarwood, patchouli, musk, santal and a hint of oud.

Please note that the cinnamon content is low, well within IFRA and skin safety guidelines and is used to bring some sharpness to the top notes without becoming a "cinnamon scent".

These releases look awesome! I already have Bad Santa and Christmas Cabin so that leaves the two new Santa’s to acquire. I’m assuming that this release of Bad Santa smells the same as last year (awesome) and it’s just the label that’s new.  This making soaps in series is a killer marketing strategy- you gotta get the whole set!! I’m so weak.  Also a minor detail on Santa’s Workshop- Sean, you know that there are no trees at the North Pole right? Smile I guess he gets the elves to bring a few into the workshop from lower latitudes just to get the right ambience.

I’ll be pre-ordering these

Bad Santa is the same, just a different label. As for there being no trees at the north pole, well... you'll just have to believe in the magic of Christmas can make anything possible!

I did a live stream on IG explaining a few things, notably the delay of my special edition scent Alberta Boys and Chinook Sky, but also some changes to my upcoming v5 base. I know i just increased pricing by 10 percent, but a lot of my ingredients have doubled in the past few years, and some of my key items (notably the jars) are from the US. V5 is going to have the same base ingredients, but I'm going to be simplifying the additives as there are some redundant ingredients.

Here's what I covered:

1. Alberta Boys/Chinook Sky delay on account of being sent the wrong item for the EdP bottles. Working on a solution ASAP.

2. Changing jars from double wall to single wall. This has more to do with reducing the high cost of shipping cases to Canada than the price of the jar itself.

3. Simplifying my additives. I'm keeping the base the same, but will be combining redundant ingredients and changing a couple of the superfat oils.

4. Firming up the base--I'm changing my lye ratio to firm up the base bit. I've noticed some of my soaps have melted in transport during the summer, hopefully this will address that. I've already started doing this with my latest v4 batches.

Feel free to ask me any questions!

Sean, this is the first I’ve heard of Alberta Boys and Chinook Sky. What are they? Are you doing the full lineup with soap, splash and EDT? What are they going to smell like?

Hey Mark! I'll make a post about Chinook Sky today, I'm going to have to seperate them unfortunately. Doesn't look like the EdP bottle situation is going to be resolved for a timely release. Alberta Boys will have an EdP and is my fifth anni scent, but by the time i'll release it it's looking like it'll be my 6th year scent lol. I don't want to give too much away before the release but it'll be an oud scent.

Being an Alberta boy I have some interest in this release. I really like your Alberta themed branding generally and Chinook Sky being the latest in your Alberta sky series how can I not want that one?  There’s nothing like a chinook sky - the arch, the variable chinook cloudiness the temperature rising from -35 to +10 in a matter of hours. What’s not to like?

Chinook Sky -- Going out to stockists this Monday, expect official release about a week after that!

Notes: Earth, Humus, Woods, Tree Moss, Tonka Bean, Green Florals, Patchouli, Cedar

Chinook winds are warm, dry winds that occur on the eastern slopes of the Rocky Mountains and are easily identified by their unusual cloud formations. They result from moist air masses moving eastward from the Pacific Ocean and rising over the mountains, causing precipitation on the western slopes. As the air descends on the eastern side, it rapidly warms, causing dramatic temperature increases of 20°F to 40°F (11°C to 22°C) or more within hours! Chinooks swiftly melt snow, leading to rapid transitions from winter to spring-like conditions.

Chinook Sky, the winter entry for my seasonal “Sky Series,” attempts to capture the smells of a momentary spring in the midst of winter. It’s earthy, fresh, green and has that outdoor crispness of a freshly melted snow. These lighter notes are anchored with cedarwood and patchouli essential oils. A bit of reprieve from winter brought to you by Macduff’s!
