I received the new timeless 68 blade gap OC base the other day and here is my opinion?

For years I have shaved 7 days a week maybe missing a few days every year, also I will shave again at 6pm for a social event. I do not like a very mild or aggressive razor, I do not want ro take off layers of skin which will leave  me with red iritated skin. My rotation off razors are 1934 Artisticrat,  BBS 1, Wolfman, Oneblade,  Barbaros, Blackbird. I take a half hour for a shave, I strive for a BBS, 3-4 passes pus clean up I try to avoid nicks. I do not want to just concentrate on the blade.

I read all the reviews and comments on the Timeless and purchased a scalloped a few weeks ago. After using the razor for 4 days my first impression was my last, way to aggressive, I had to concentrate to much on the blade not on my shave, this razor was not comparable to any in my current rotation.

I returned the scalloped base for the OC while waiting for the new less aggressive base to be released. Well luck was in store for me and the day my returned base arrived the new OC 68 base came in. I received an email about the the 68 that day inwhich I ordered and received the 68 the other day.

I have used the 68 twice and to me the shave with the 68 is heads and shoulders above the 95. Superb shave, smooth,  nice blade feel and feedback (polsilver) no nicks, BBS face and neck. The soap i used enhanced the smoothness of the shave and i used a SS 87 x 14 handle which allowed me to apply less pressure.

For me i don,t know what the excitement was for the 95 except for those that love aggressive, but for me the 68 is an excellent daily shave that is right up there with the best. Just my opinion.

Still haven’t tried a Timeless myself, but have read quite a bit about them. A few days ago I read a review in which the writer said that as much as he loves the 0.95 mm open comb, he loves the new 0.68 scalloped even more. But there are also plenty of people on this forum who report consistent smooth and pleasing shaves with their 0.95s.

As much as Timeless has already accomplished in a short time, it’ll be interesting to see where they go from here, with new materials and designs right around the corner. I think it’s great to have a manufacturer that is paying such attention to detail and design while also providing products with little to no waiting time.

Whenever I go to shave, I assume there’s someone else on the planet shaving, so I say “I’m gonna go shave, too.”

I have a tracking number that says Monday. Should know more later next week. I have high hopes.

I have to let a few things go now. Is the Timeless going to be one of them? Hope not. Love the looks. Seems like a good company which is reactive and responsive. I am not super thrilled about the pricing. I understand what it is though and the hours of specialized labor and equipment that went into it. Still have the highest hopes of finding my last DE.

I shaved with my nickel toggle this morning. It's got cool factor in spades. I don't love the way it shaves me.

I am after the Goldilocks razor. I will have to see how it goes.

I don't claim favorites. If I went by best shave and best comfort alone the Rockwell 6S would be it in the DE camp. I am not really happy settling down with it. Can't use all my different handles with it. A lot of them don't fit on the baseplate.

I told myself if they reduced the blade gap I'd buy one, didn't think it would happen this quickly. Can't wait until it arrives.

I ordered mine .68 scalloped head on Friday. No tracking number just yet. I should receive it by the end of the month hopefully.
I had the original (larger gap) OC razor before and I agree it was way too aggressive for my tastes. I'm hoping this new gap works out better so I can start selling off my razor hoard. Big Grin

I initially passed on this razor but now that a milder base plate is available I'm starting to think about it again. Hate to wait too long and the orders start to pile up and we all know where that leads. I do think I will wait until a few more reviews are in. I like the looks of the 100 mm handle although I'd like it a lot more if it was about 90mm.

Even better? Perhaps? Bolder question mark Happy I'm into SR shaving now, but I can see this razor making my den sometime down the road.

I wouldn't worry about long waiting periods. These folks appear to have a well oiled machine.Happy2

The .68 scallop is definitely on my wishlist.

I hope Hector is right and these gents just keep on churning these beauties out and everyone who wants one can get one.
