LOOT If one is using a high gapped WR2 say 135 or above what benefit would this Sailor have especially given its heavy weight. How’s its balance and can you get it under the nose easily as it looks “chunky”. Personally I get great results with the French Poo Poo/Gibbs with the brass extension making it my best adjustable at least until the Janus is released.

And what about that Russian adjustable Taiga - how do these new adjustables measure up to one another ? These are good problems to solve !

Well, we shall see. I have the Sailor in house and I ordered the Taiga yesterday as well as having the prototype Taiga on its way to me now.

I really shouldn't speak to the Gibbs as I've never used one. I just like to tease Frank. All in fun.

The top cap is almost identical in profile to the WR2 head. So maybe that will help you determine maneuverability. I guess im odd in that I turn the razor perpendicular to the floor and use the blade corner to get that last 1/8" under my nose.

Advantage over a WR2? Only one I can think of is it covers a bunch of those gaps in one handy tool.

I just hate to compare to a WR2. Two completely different shaves.

It is a little chunky but balances much better than some of the WR1/WR2s I could put together. Not as good as others. The shave compares better to a WR1 and this Sailor easily covers all those gaps...just maybe not as smooth...and it requires more attention during the process.

Hope this helps.

Last shave of 2019 on setting 4.5...same Feather blade. Best shave yet. Even on this "low" setting it cut very close with great blade feel.

I think I could find a better blade combo than the Personna and Feather I've used to date. Next will be a GSB, then an Astra.

Anyone else running this thing care to share blade choices?

Happy New Year, men. Looking forward to seeing what 2020 has in store for the wet shaving enthusiasts.

I like it with the Astra platinums. Tried one of the Big Foot Shaves blades in it, which was awful (my first go with those blades in any razor). I think this had nothing to do with the razor. I just don't like those blades. Also, used a Parker blade, which was fine.

First shave with the Sailor - I need to show it just a tiny bit more respect - but the feel and heft are great Smile

Happy New Year!!

What setting? What blade?

I used a GSB on 3.5 today and it was fantastic. Nice and smooth, no tugging, plenty of efficiency...which kind surprises me.

I agree, it can/does requires attention. Take care how you lay it on your face...and mind pressure. It hasn't bit me yet, but it's a matter of time on higher settings. The razor seems pretty adept at anything mild to wild. I don't think it will ever be mindless tho.

My shave today was great but the razor did bite a couple times because I did not pay attention. Used it on M/A with a Feather and this thing is amazing but you do have to be careful with a sharper blade. My last 2 shaves were with PolSilver blades and set to a much higher gap but I was being extremely careful due to setting the gap higher. I can tell this razor is made for Feather blades because the shave was super smooth but for that reason I was a bit careless and had a couple nicks. All good though.
